Before we throw Puig under the bus, "at an LA Lakers game in 2018"

In the docs, the woman alleged, "she was forced into a bathroom and Yasiel Puig grabbed at her trying to take her clothes off, touched her sexual organs during this struggle, and eventually pinned her with 1 arm and used his other to stroke his own penis, exposing himself, and eventually ejaculating."

The woman says in her lawsuit, she was "simply heading to use the bathroom" -- and did not go to the restroom with the intention of having a sexual encounter with Puig.

This sounds completely unbelieveable lol.* So he dragged her into the bathroom, jerked off on her in a corner at a basketball game? And no one was around to witness?

*I am willing to take back my comments if he is found guilty.

Yeah. I saw no mention of a criminal case either. I mean, Puig IS complete scum, but it's entirely possible this never happened. Something seems a little off.

I think a guy like O'Day would be lucky to get a couple mill this offseason. I really wish we didn't have Yamaguchi and Roark.

It's scary to think what Roark's 2021 salary alone could get in this winter's FA market. Hindsight sucks some times.

Yankees pick up Britton's 14M option, and there wasn't even a buyout on it. I didn't see that happening after the Indians couldn't find a taker for Hand at 10M.

I feel like maybe different teams have vastly different expectations for how this offseason is going to go, maybe?

They would probably be better off if they cut bait with Britton and his excellent middle name in favour of Hand. The latter might be a better reliever and they would save 4 million.

Fangraphs contract estimates are up:

https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2021-top-50-free-agents/

Honestly, give me basically everybody at these numbers except for Realmuto and the other handful of players who Toronto just doesn't need. I don't see many bad contracts.

Not sure I would target Gausman, Hendriks, Walker, Bradley Jr., Melancon, or Colome at these figures but if that's what Toronto ended up with I would not be unhappy.

I just really hope there is a legitimate investment in the team this offseason. They need to do it based on the developmental stage of the roster. It would be such a shame if they got shy because of MLB's economics. It does not need to be Trevor Bauer or George Springer either - it could be a handful of smaller deals. Just add talent, anywhere. Even if the bat isn't an obvious fit, if the player is good bring him in. Sign some solid relievers if the FA starters are being pen-shy.

Wow - I mean I doubt Craig Edwards has any idea what the market will be, but it's insane to think DJLM may sign for a lower AAV than we'll be paying Roark. As you said - pull up the brinks truck and sign me up for almost anyone of those FA's at the projected values.

Might see a couple of lifetime 1 team guys move on this year. Yadi and Gardner...both at the end of really good/great careers. Will either team re-sign them as H&S players? or move on ala the Patriots.

And will it work out well for the baseball equivalent of the TB Buccaners

Morton has his 15M option declined, while the Yankees picked up Britton at 14M. Nobody seems to have any idea where this is going.

Yeah, I don’t see teams like the Yankees not doing what they need to do. Covid isn’t here forever, light can be seen at end of the tunnel by everyone’s accounts, it’s just a matter of how much it effects next season but beyond that things should be normal. Granted “normal” may be different but adding 1 of 2 FA here and there isn’t going to drastically alter your team financially. I would pass on JT (generally speaking) for the record but everyone else should be in play

If a team is about building a brand and winning WS, which is best way to get all your fan base engaged/back, I don’t think they get scared off. On the other hand, I think the teams like Toronto that are bottom-line first, will be hesitant to add payroll. Hopefully I’m wrong

Qualifying offer this year is 18.9M

That's a big gamble not knowing what next season will look like

Only a few will probably be made

You know player agents are going to be digging in talking about vaccine is here blah blah. Good players will get paid. We’ll see

Who gets qualifying offers?

Realmuto

Bauer

Anyone else?

Bauer

Springer or Realmuto

2 of Walker/Schumaker/Ray

Bauer

Ryu

Pearson

Walker/Schumaker/Ray

Thats my ideal starting rotation. Sucks that we'll have 22 million tied up to Roark and Grichuk next year, which might hurt us from achieving the above.

For who is going to get the QO?

Locks: Bauer, Realmuto, Springer, LeMahieu

Maybe: Stroman, Semien, Brantley, Tanaka

Can't really see any other borderline ones. Ozuna would have but he got it last year so he can't get it again. Of the four maybes, my guess is Stroman gets it, Semien doesn't (cheap A's), Brantley gets it, and Tanaka could go either way (depends on whether the Yankees want to be cheap or not).

I'm a little shocked that no team considered Morton at 15 million. The market is going to be extremely tight.

Not clear the Rays even tried to give him away.

Morton destroyed his own leverage by admitting that he really only wants to play for Tampa and might retire if they don't pick up his option. He lives in Florida, is at the end of his career, etc.

I think Tampa has decided to call his bluff. They'll probably just sign him back for less guaranteed money.

You don’t know Tampa shopped him. Guy like that may not be after whoever the highest bidder is and therefore Tampa may have a shot to retain him in the end. If that’s a possibility, that’s prob more valuable than doing him dirty and trading him for no-shot prospects

Blah. I didn’t copy you

Actually can you trade a guy that’s on an upcoming option, or is it just about getting out of the buyout?

Yes you can.i believe we did it with Chase Anderson last season.

Morton is considering a June start next year. He enjoyed how his body reacted to a shorter season.

Sign me up for that if he'll take a pro-rated 15 million.

One year....I'd give him pro-rated 20 mil if he wants to go on the Clemens plan.

Perhaps. 20 million might get you Tanaka and Paxton for all we know right now. The market looks screwy.

Tigers called Hinch 30 minutes after the WS ended and invited him to come amd interview for the job and hired him next day.
