Judging from this stupid argument you made just now. Good, stay there for as long you can, it's better for the rest of the country.

That is a literary device called "sarcasm". I am actually out and about daily giving the virus to everyone I can.

Oh yes, public health is in such danger from 50 guys traveling and staying together while being tested multiple times daily.

I for one will never emerge from my shelter. I like canned beans anyway.

Just move to the US if you hate it so much here. Moron.

It's not the right decision because it's emotion based not science based. There are still 300-400 cases being detected in Canada each day, they don't detect all the cases, so this represents between 1000 and 2000 new cases a day.

How many additional cases will allowing the Blue Jays to play in Toronto cause?? Likely none. These players are being tested all the time and you will have almost perfect contact tracing. It's extremely low risk.

Am I wrong?

There might be multiple border crossings. But all these players are being tested more regularly than normal people. Its almost like people think as soon as The Blue Jays “escaped home arrest ” they were going to just wander the streets of Florida and go into every club. Players want to play so they will quarantine in Florida. If they didn’t want to play they could opt out. This entire decision is paranoia based nothing more.

I don't get why some people are so up in arms about the Jays not playing at the Rogers Center, it's not like theres going to be fans allowed anyway, you guys are really committed to seeing the blue outfield walls and seats huh? Why take the resources and manpower away from the public to ensure that Jays and their opponents play here when there's not going to be fans allowed anyway, also taking a chance (although a small chance) of this whole thing starting an outbreak.

Would if I could, but I don't hate it here. Didn't imply that anyway. What I did imply is that people, like little guppies, have thrown nuance and common sense out the window. If you honestly think that a baseball team who are regularly tested and isolated, are an actual threat to public health, perhaps consider whether or not you are an abject moron, and perhaps come to the conclusion that yes, yes you are.

You are wrong. There will be a point where people decide that living this way is not worth it. I'm not sure why the federal government gets to override the provincial government on a matter of public health, anyway.

I will believe it when I see it.

First off, production quality. Second of all, player facilities. Third of all, makes the team feel like it's actually based here like every other team playing in their home park. Small chance? Try no chance.

Either way, the Jays aint playing here, so you can whine about this all day long on a message board it doesn't matter now.

Yeah, seeing some of the people in this thread, you might be right. Some of them seem to think half the world will die.

I hope they are this fervent during flu season. Oh wait, they aren't being told that the world is ending in that case so they just ignore it. A poster on here recently claimed the death rate was 10 percent, so who knows what these people believe. Players are testing positive and absolutely no one is concerned that they are going to die, which is weird for a "deadly virus".

It doesn’t matter if fans are in the ballpark or not. This is where the team belongs and this is where they should play. Why would free agents sign up to be in the state of limbo? Why sign with a team that you might actually play in the city they represent. Why would you want to play in a minor league stadium over a major league one regardless of fans. This decision could have serious team consequences going forward.

If the team can’t play in Toronto I almost don’t want to watch.

This is the right call, just not sure why it took the government so long to make this decision. Now the team only has a week and a bit to figure out where they’re playing and to set things up.

How was this the right call? We just turned away millions in tax revenue. The Jays players are Canadian residents. They live in Toronto and pay a ton of tax dollars to the government. They just sent a bunch of young men who pay a lot of money to Canada to live in a Covid hot bed. That's pathetic.

Players are tested every 2 days. They travel on private charters, take private buses to their hotel that is inside the Rogers centre. They also get room service. They literally won't be in contact with anyone. As long as hotel staff follow proper safety protocols the odds of any Canadian catching Covid from a baseball player is almost 0.

The Liberals made a political decision rather than the correct one.

Thank you for giving me permission to use an internet message board for the very thing it was designed for. If you need any upgrades for your bomb shelter, I know a guy so hit me up.

I didn't know we had an epidemiologist up in here

It's called common sense, something you clearly lack.

How correct have epidemiologists been, anyway? First they said don't wear masks, now it's wear masks all the time, they still don't know whether the virus spreads via droplets or if it's aerosolized, they don't know how many strains there are, they don't know whether or not kids can pass it to adults.

The only things they do seem to know are: virus hits harder as you age and if you have underlying conditions. Up until your late 20s, the flu is more deadly. For kids, the flu is three times more deadly.

Try to compute that

Boxcar can't help himself, lol.

Hes kinda right though. This country has become overly paranoid. People need to take precautions and obviously make good decisions. But you can’t stop living your life like it seems many Canadians have.

I am allergic to idiots who just take the accepted narrative with zero critical thought. I especially love when they point at epidemiologists who have been wrong about almost everything. I don't blame them for that, but it also means that they really don't know much more than everyone else.

Flu season I’m expecting employment to be a complete disaster. Fully expecting another nation wide shutdown. People will not leave their house and expect to get paid,

How is not letting the Blue Jays play at the rogers center when there's no fans allowed anyway during a worldwide pandemic not "living your life"? how do you make that leap?

Canada shut all sports cross border sports, how do you answer to them?

Easy Karen!

That’s not even a Karen moment. Its a sad reality moment. We are getting dealt a s***** hand in this already gong show of a season. The sides couldn’t even agree on extended playoffs. The only joy I can take from this season is knowing the a Baltimore Orioles might not even win 5 games.

It spreads more easily. I abide by my local bylaws. I wear a mask indoors. I don't want to contract the virus. If I am asked to wear a face covering when I go shopping, it is a small thing to ask.

It is not the flu, thank you for demonstrating your lack of critical thinking once again. Your brain has a set of narratives locked away that can be used to dismiss any contradictory opinion, this is fairly common for people who let other people think for them. This is how pitchfork mobs worked back in the day. If the aldorman says this woman is a witch, by golly he must be correct. I bring up comparisons to the flu in terms of death rates ONLY and like a jukebox, your brain cues up "O ur 1 uv thos its da flu gais lol". It's a pre programmed response that someone has drilled in your mind.
