gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 If you can't see the immense potential in these guys you don't know baseball. I have to say, this is a solid young core.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 How hurt is Lourdes by the way? I haven't been able to pay attention
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 f*** Baltimore is bad. At least we have some potentially elite bats and Nate Pearson to look forward to. If I was Orioles fan they would find me swinging from the rafters in the basement.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 I haven't felt this kind of excitement towards a young core since the early 80's
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 I have to say, this is a solid young core. Very good.

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Theoretically our offence should be pretty good next year just need to find a lot of pitching
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 This is a very special group that we have. So much fun to watch.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Theoretically our offence should be pretty good next year just need to find a lot of pitching This may sound crazy but, if we somehow have one of those unexpected seasons of average to above average pitching next year, we could possibly see the light of a .500 season.

Yeah, I just don't see how we get there. I guess anything can happen, but our near-future pitching situation is... rough. 1. Thornton 2. Borucki (?) 3. SRF (?) 4. Shoemaker (?) Maybe Kay makes a push, maybe we make a ton of value signings that all pan out, but looking at the FA list doesn't inspire much confidence.

Screw the value signings. Cole and Bumgarner would look pretty good at the top of the rotation.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 I haven't felt this kind of excitement towards a young core since the early 80's I felt very excited with what AA was building before the 2013 disaster.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 I said before with Gurriel's emergence, the Jays are really only a legit CF away from having a very strong position player core, which is one of the reasons I can understand the Fisher acquisition even if I can nitpick on what we gave up or question how good he actually is/can be. The pitching is a different story. I think we all hope the magic Shapiro and his GM's had in Cleveland with pitching can translate over. Too early to tell. Thornton looks like an inconsistent back end starter ATM, but right now he's the only one you can somewhat rely on. How Atkins and co can develop pitching in the upper minors (Thornton, Merryweather, Waguespack, Pannone, Kay, SRF, Diaz, Perez, Murphy, Zeuch, etc) will be interesting to watch. The lower minors pitching prospects look really good, but can we develop some of the fringey guys we have in AAA/the bigs?

It will be an ugly 2 years unless there is an over achiever or they can trade someone for help (not likely). The FA market isn't great.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 who even are these people coming out of the bullpen
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Screw the value signings. Cole and Bumgarner would look pretty good at the top of the rotation. You know that doesn't actually sound too crazy. Having those top two starters on our staff could actually give us a chance at a .500 season. Having competitive seasons at the same time when young players are developing, is an ideal environment for their development.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 who even are these people coming out of the bullpen I don't know, but he's the true definition of a redneck.

Plus you supplement them in a year or two with Pearson, etc. You could have a pretty damn good rotation right when it matters.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Boshers has some stuff, by the looks of it
43211234 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Bo being listed at 6'0" 200 pounds has to be one of the more farcical listings in the league.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Boshers has some stuff, by the looks of it Anyone named Buddy must be an alpha male. That seems to be important to some around here. He's a 60 grade alpha.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Bo being listed at 6'0" 200 pounds has to be one of the more farcical listings in the league. I saw a list that had Vladdy at 200lb and Bichette at 201lb.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 when's syndergaard a free agent? we must bring him home Stro will s*** talk the Jays organization to him. He's not coming.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 The Vladimal has been unleashed.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 I think Vladdy finally stopped being late with his swing.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
