Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Author Posted August 3, 2019 You're making a lot of assumptions on what Stroman is stating. It feels a lot more like a petulant child acting out and agreeing with any negative comment whether it has merit or not against the guys who let him go. There's been no direct quote of Stroman accusing anyone of racism. I'd be shocked if reporter haven't tried to bating him into such a comment. Nothing has come out. The guy has venom for a front office he can't stand. That's it. Keith Law is the bigger idiot for for making this into something it's not, and the guy who made the original comment is in idiot for making such an ambiguous statement. Marcus Stroman is a lot of things I can't stand but stupid isn't one of them. He knew what would be inferred from him jumping on Law's cock.

If asked directly, I highly doubt he's going to come out and say they are racist. These are two strong personalities in a row that have left with a bad taste for management. Donaldson didn't get along with the nerds either. We got s*** in return for both.

Donaldson didn't get along with Oakland's FO either, was that also their fault or is Donaldson maybe a bit of an *******? Bautista didn't part on poor terms, I don't think Tulowitzki did either. Neither did Martin.
ValiantJaysFan Verified Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Stroman is easily a #2 or #3 starter on a good team, just not an ace. Let's not be silly here. I agree with the race stuff. This had absolutely nothing to do with race, and should never have been brought into the argument. All I think the original statement was saying is they're under the impression that Stroman thinks the world revolves around him, and going to New York he was going to find there were other guys people a lot higher in the pecking order. He was going to learn his place as a player, not as anything else. That said, hating on Stroman is just stupid. He was a good player for us, who loved the team, the city, the fans, and apparently wanted to stay through the rebuild. It would have been nice to see him be a little more professional on social media, but that's about it. No one should be wishing him anything but the best. Since when does wanting to be here count for anything when it comes to someone's character? Who cares? Toronto is a world class city. Canadians have this thing where we're always so impressed that someone would actually want to he here. He used that insecurity as a public relations tool and he knew exactly what he was doing. Frankly it's insulting when you think about it.

Billy is a strong personality and that may have got the best of him. He'd be the first to admit he f***ed up, but Billy wouldn't hesitate to bring in a Bauer if he thought it would help him win. Shatkins are looking for choir boys to play on this team. Bottom line, is I don't like baseball moves they have made lately. I'm not going to say they haven't done some good things, but we won't know if this plan is going to work for 2 or 3 more years so it's pointless arguing it.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Another example: And, by the way, Yordan Alvarez isn’t a top 100 prospect because he will have to play 1B. Law is a complete joke.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Another example: I actually don't like this article at all. Comes off as Shi whining about AA being gone and Shapiro/Atkins not being as "cool"
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 That was a great article by Shi, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and he's right, it's time to start building around this young core after the WS. Vladdy, Jansen, Bichette (Brian Parker) are AA guys. We need results
metafour Verified Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Vladdy, Jansen, Bichette (Brian Parker) are AA guys. We need results Jansen sucked dick until the player development system was revamped by Shapiro, and pretending like Bryan Parker was the only person involved with selecting Bichette is comical. Who's the area scout that covers that region? I bet he still works here. Bryan Parker and AA couldn't draft position players worth s*** LMAO, so I seriously doubt that these were the lone geniuses involved in championing that pick. What, Tony LaCava had no input in that pick? I love how Law's Tweet there is basically insinuating that we "screwed up" by replacing Parker, when in reality Steve Sanders has killed the draft. Big whoop; a new management team came in and brought in their own guy. AA did the exact same f***ing thing in Atlanta LMAO, and the guy he canned was WAY more established than Parker.
Frag Verified Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Another example: They may not have wanted to draft Bichette initially. However, listening to your scouts and doing it anyway is a sign of good management, no?
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 (edited) I always knew Stroman was a little s***. Should've traded him for Blackmon years ago. Edited August 8, 2019 by JFD
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Jansen sucked dick until the player development system was revamped by Shapiro Jansen sucked dick until he found out he needed glasses. I mean, I'm sure the development system has helped him, you know, develop too, but I'm not giving them credit for an eye exam. IMO every player, every year should be undergoing one in spring training.
