Jansen hasn't been as bad as you guys think, he's hitting the ball harder than last season, balls are on the ground a bit more, K% up more than he'd like, but it's basically really bad luck, Laika posted last week he's top 3 in the league in that context, his BABIP is super low. Not to mention he's near elite behind the plate, he isn't going nowhere.

Vlad is the only player in baseball who doesnt get fastballs or breaking balls down the middle it seems...and the sliders on the corner keep getting called a strike even 5 inches off the plate. Umpires are dictating the swings half the time

He's only 20. But he won't be what we want until he's stops chasing. That's the most dissapointing aspect of all this. Many young players take a while to stop chasing, but they weren't heralded as the greatest prospect ever.

 

His chase rate isn't horrible but it's not elite. Yordan Alvarez has a bit higher chase rate, but a way lower zone-rate.

 

So the issue Vladimir is a) sometimes chasing out of zone, swinging to much in zone, and hitting pitches he can't do anything with.

Yeah I think it is just a product of pressing. I think it's just a matter of time for him to go back to his norm with regards to approach at the plate. He is chasing way more then he ever has before.
