gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Are you implying he isn't slow? Lol. Ho hard he hit that doesn't change the fact he's slow. . Tellez being slow is an obvious given.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Tellez being slow is an obvious given. Glad that's all cleared up. Great talk.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 I think he needs to go back now There's nobody else knocking down the door right now. He'll stay up the whole year and then be re-evaluated in the off season.

DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 I will really be upset if Stroman is dealt for fringe prospects I'd rather extend him I don't see the need to trade every asset. We need pitching. Plus I don't trust Atkins to get a good return.
Ex Player Verified Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Going to have to send Jansen down his swing is broken And replace him with who?? You can't have only 1 catcher on your roster

Ex Player Verified Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Reese He's not exactly lighting up AAA either though: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mcguir001ree But I suppose its worth a shot

DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Grichuk is hot garbage. Can't believe the extension.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Jansen hasn't been as bad as you guys think, he's hitting the ball harder than last season, balls are on the ground a bit more, K% up more than he'd like, but it's basically really bad luck, Laika posted last week he's top 3 in the league in that context, his BABIP is super low. Not to mention he's near elite behind the plate, he isn't going nowhere. https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=16535&position=C#battedball
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Jansen given a gift base hit in a DP ball.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 To think the Jays could've swept without that meltdown Friday, mind you the Bosox handed the Jays that game yesterday.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Jansen is hitting everything into the ground his swing is off.

DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 His average EV has to be way below league average. He is one of the worst averages against the fastball.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Man is Vladdy pressing. He needs to just relax and let the game come to him.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Vlad chasing a lot You keep changing stances every game lmao Vlad is the only player in baseball who doesnt get fastballs or breaking balls down the middle it seems...and the sliders on the corner keep getting called a strike even 5 inches off the plate. Umpires are dictating the swings half the time
jmomcc Verified Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 I don’t think vlad is chasing but he might be better taking some strikes that he can’t drive. Honestly though, it just seems like bad luck.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Vlad chasing a lot He should be walking once a game with the way he is getting pitched. He'll continue to hit .250 and disappoint until he stops chasing. He's only 20. But he won't be what we want until he's stops chasing. That's the most dissapointing aspect of all this. Many young players take a while to stop chasing, but they weren't heralded as the greatest prospect ever. His chase rate isn't horrible but it's not elite. Yordan Alvarez has a bit higher chase rate, but a way lower zone-rate. So the issue Vladimir is a) sometimes chasing out of zone, swinging to much in zone, and hitting pitches he can't do anything with.
Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Vlad is struggling to make adjustments
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 His average EV has to be way below league average. No.

I think it's just a matter of time for him to go back to his norm with regards to approach at the plate. He is chasing way more then he ever has before.
