What were his DIPS as a reliever, do you know? I agree by the way.

Well, FIP is based on the DIPS concept (defense independent). The issue is that it doesn't take into account contact type or quality (aside from home runs). Pitchers that get a lot of ground ball or soft fly ball contact will usually not be accurately captured with this strategy unless their other metrics help make up for it.

I know what DIPS are Abom, which metrics are you talking about on the latter "Statcast", contact/quality rates are found in fangraphs?

His numbers are quite the contrast from SP and RP, I'll be it in a small sample, I'd go with luck as BTS pointed out.

With Aaron Sanchez, I think it is possible he could have developed into a better pitcher, but all the nagging finger issues over the past 2 seasons have also set back his development, and maybe partly as a result of this, he has never developed the command to be an effective starter over the long run.

I TOTALLY agree that he needs to be put in the BP full time. As Spanky said, it doesn't matter if he agrees, because it is not up to him. Let him sit out and see what that does to his value when he eventually hits free agency ( I guess he could go overseas).

Anyways it is sad to see the sorry state of this guy, as his birthday of July 1st always made me pull for him to succeed with the Jays. But yeah; if only they would have traded him instead of Syndergaard.........

Oh and as already posted in this thread, the Jays were just completely humiliated by a team missing 3 of their 4 best players that are currently on the DL (Correa, Springer, Altuve). Reality check after a couple wins against the lowly O's: this rebuild has a looooooong way to go.

ETA: I will start referring to the DL as the 'IL' right after I start calling the SkyDome the 'Rogers Centre'. f*** OFF with that s***!

They don't have to convince anybody s***, just move him to the pen. They can't tell the team how to run things, lol.

Of course but then you’ll have the headache of dealing with unhappy player and agent. I don’t care about Sanchez, I care about his trade value.

Sanchez is an awful pitcher. He isn't anything more than a long reliever or mop up duty guy on a bad team. This guy isn't worth f*** all in a trade so put him in the pen where he belongs and let him get used to it.

He can blame blisters all he wants, but at the end of the day he has a 5BB/9 which will never cut it as a starter, and makes it hard to do as a reliever unless you're striking out a pile of guys which he never will. He is a legitimate non tender candidate at the end of the year as far as I'm concerned, I've never understood the length of rope he's been given by this organization under two different regimes.

Still doesn't matter not one iota, he has to go out and pitch better, or get f*** all through FA.
