Grichuk is not a bad player, but you guys will be tripping over yourselves trying to defend this extension for the next few years. He is a 2 win player with a ~6% walk rate. Career 106 wRC+, but 101 since the start of 2016. He's had one really good season and that was 2015. He's no where near that level anymore barring a Smoakian breakout some time soon.

I'm sure some are tired of Grichuk and his contract getting criticized often, but when that's the first big extension of this regime during the rebuilding period, and actual difference makers like Stro and Giles are going to be dealt, it's a pretty important talking point.

Facts, but let's not confuse Spanky and the rest of the defenders.

A 2 win player is worth 10 per, mate... not to mention potential upside.

lol... coming from the Goins boy, this is rich, do you understand value at all?

LOL.. He had one big year four years ago which makes his average annual WAR misconstrued. His extension wasn't thought out well.

f***ing Hockey. Blues are getting s*** kicked and are up 2-0.

That 2nd goal was just a dumb move by Boston, surprised to see that in a playoff game.

Goins was a big part of the 2015/16 runs and wasn't making $11M per season.

That -0.8 fWAR in 2016, was huge!

He's averaged 1.9 fWAR in 126 games per season in the other three full-time seasons he's played, which equals an average of 2.5 fWAR/season over 162 games in those three seasons. His "big year four years ago" was 3 fWAR. Not a huge difference, so this is just what he does and there's still room for upside. He's still only 27.

There's no point, Coach will never get it.
