Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 He's looked good out there tonight.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Maybe it's his natural position, lol. Not much to lose so why not.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 What the hell is going on? He's been good in the OF this season. Obviously been working hard at it.

Yeah they said he has played a lot of CF in his younger years and also played 50 games in CF in winter ball this past offseason. He has the wheels and the arm to be a decent CFer, so let's see what happens.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 I mean it doesn't seem like he will ever hit enough to be a corner outfielder.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 6, 2019 Author Posted June 6, 2019 Maybe it's his natural position, lol. Not much to lose so why not. I guess it's possible he's more comfortable there, but his biggest issue on the corners seemed to be terrible routes, with his arm being his biggest strength. It doesn't seem like something that's going to work very well.
tbad Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Looked fine today but in all honesty he's the second worst outfielder I've ever seen, next to Chris Colabello.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Looked fine today but in all honesty he's the second worst outfielder I've ever seen, next to Chris Colabello. Then you haven't watched him play at all this season.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Maybe the FO is attempting to make it crystal clear that they aren't interested in winning.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 It’s him or Brito, pick your poison
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 I don't know why they don't just go with Grichuk in CF and then Gurriel and Teoscar in the corners. Then next year acquire a real CF and if Gurriel and Teoscar stick you have a complete OF with the 4 of them.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 I guess Teoscar has the speed for it, he's probably our fastest player so they just want to give him a trial run to see if he can do it. But he's sucked on the corners I dont know why they think he'll be able to play CF. If he can maybe he can stick as a 4th OF.

I've watched maybe two games since April.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Sample size was small at ~300 innings but he had something like 1 DRS and 21 UZR/150 in LF this year.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Apparently he's better on the corners this year? I've watched maybe two games since April. Yeah apparently he has been. I can't help but shake my view that he's just Zeke Carrera with louder tools, including the defense.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 It’s him or Brito, pick your poison Literally the poison, please.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 lies 4.2 UZR in LF, 20.8 UZR/150, 23 OOZ plays (including 2 last night). Obviously a ridiculously small sample size. Also, his arm is damn good.
