5,786 is the recorded attendance for this game, time to move the Rays to Montreal lol

And they are a legit WC contender, maybe even a divisional contender

How long do I have to wait until Vlad will be good

Until he goes to Buffalo??

Until the Jays give up on him and he gets traded to the Yanks, Red Sox, or perhaps reunited with AA on the Braves??

The irrational part of me just says we don't deserve nice things and Vlad is not happening for us. 117 mph line drives to the center fielder, and 8 pitch strike outs without a pitch in the zone (a couple chases and a bad call) are the best we can hope for most nights.

This a 100 loss team

Definitely not a 100 loss team, that would break Rule number 1. No nice things. A 100 loss team gets a top 3 pick.

Vlad gets sent down with a .215 average. Hansen and Burrito called up. THEY CATCH FIRE. Unvelievable. Lead us to a 71 win season and the 10th pick.

Sportsnet might have to condense Blue Jays in 30 to Blue Jays in 3.

Or maybe .03

They should just create a new show, Things Fans in the Stands are Doing While Not Watching the Blue Jays.

This series in Tampa may not be the ideal setting for episode one though.

I don't know the numbers but I would bet a fair number of teams. Gotta be so disheartening as a Rays player to draw so few no matter how good you play.

They don't care they're getting their millions regardless

I've seen players get sent down for less years ago.

Bobby Cox very publicly pulled Andruw Jones during an inning in progress for hot-dogging a fly ball. This was when Jones was having an MVP calibre year. A more recent example is when BJ Upton jogged after a ball in the gap for a triple and Evan Longoria got in his face in the dugout.

Say what one will about Anthopolous and he certainly did some dumb s***, but he was able to acquire some good established players through shrewd moves. It's an ability that I haven't really seen with Atkins as most of his trades have been rather milquetoast. The Grichuk/Leone deal is his big shining jewel and while it was a good trade, it wasn't exactly something to write home about. The Cards had no room for Grichuk and were looking for some bullpen help and Leone had just come off a great season.

He did but used up a lot of prospect capital in the process. Had we won the 2015 (or 2016, still largely his team then) championship, maybe it would have been considered worth it.

As far as Shatkins, I also think the Diaz for Thornton deal could turn out to be a good one along with the Osuna for Giles+ trade. Of note Hector Perez, acquired in that deal, had a really rough start to the year at AA, but is looking much better in his last 5 outings (2.51 ERA in 28 2/3 ip). But overall I am not too comfortable with these guys in charge. I might actually respect Shapiro more if he moved Atkins (who seems over his head) out of the GM role and replace with someone more adept (Cherington ??).

A lot of guys are down on Hector Perez, and for good reason. But he actually has really good stuff.

Command will always be an issue for guys that throw that many types of breaking balls with that much movement. Even his fastball has movement while sitting high velo. His FB misses high often, and could use some work. Aside from Pearson, I’m not sure we have another pitching prospect with four pitches, 3 of them plus, while also sits 95, dials 97 on the regular, T99.

And he throws a freaky splitter to go with that, which happens to be the worst of his 3 breaking balls. His slider is nasty, and curveball plays well because his other stuff is high velo. If we’re going for pitching lotto tickets, you definitely want ones with upside like this. Whether he ever reaches that ceiling is another story, but the guy is still young at 22, there’s room to dream on.

That Osuna for Giles+ trade is looking really good given the circumstances.

Has Randall not hustling for the ball on the inside the park homerun been discussed?

He seemed like a hustle all the time guys but that was pathetic. Losing wearing on him?

If we could please discuss how awful his extension was again - that would awesome. Thanks.

Don't have to be handcuffed for a deal to be bad. Not necessarily talking about Grichuk specifically, just the assumption that a deal isn't bad unless it handcuffs a team.

I know that bro, he'll likely provide surplus value, regardless.

Perhaps. It's just an unfortunate start to the season.

But then again, this season is Aids. It's contagious and they're all infected.
