We didn't score three runs because we bunted. The reason we scored three runs is because the approach of the hitters has obviously been discussed, thus seeing shorter strokes and two strike approaches. If that's the case, that's a far better reason in being optimistic about the offense than knowing we have a small ball manager.

Exactly. anyone defending that needs their head checked especially with Alan Hanson being up next. Not to mention two passed balls and a steal of home.. I doubt we see that again all season.

Ned Yost won a WS title.

Atkins did this intentionally. Speed, contact, and BABIP. Let's do this.

I can't wait to see us destroy the Astros in the ALCS with Brito and Hanson batting 1st and 2nd

"We bat Brito leadoff because when we do we win."

Cool to see you ignore the numbers when it doesn’t fit your narrative

Montoyo magic guys..bunting so so good, that's why we scored, not the 3 singles, two passed balls or a steal of home... Context of the situation matters, but that doesn't fit your narrative.

In all fairness, the negative criticism on Montoya here is not warranted. We're not even two weeks into the season yet, that's ridiculous.

And just to look into the #s on the bunt there:

https://gregstoll.dyndns.org/~gregstoll/baseball/runsperinning.html

You have a higher chance of scoring with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out vs before the bunt which was 1st and 2nd with no outs.

Its less expected runs but a higher % of scoring at least 1.

Also I hate that I just wasted 5 minutes figuring this out for you fools

You're not factoring in the probability that the hitter doesn't get the bunt down successfully. Anyone know what the sac bunt success rate is in the AL? 60%? 70%?

The criticism of the bunting and lineup are warranted..but yes it is too early to say he is a bad manager obviously.

See, that's a "productive out" that had the same result as a sac bunt, but "giving up an out" wasn't the GOAL of that at bat, which is why it was better than bunting.

Shh bunting is great, Montoyo magic. I think peeps forget you can move runners over without bunting.

Dude, forget it, lol. *smh* Run expectancy goes down, how do you not see that, in the link you provided?
