Trent Thornton

RHP

0-0, 0.00 ERA, 8 SO

Thornton set the record for most strikeouts by a Blue Jays pitcher in a debut during his last appearance vs. Detroit. The rookie right-hander struck out eight, didn't walk a batter and scattered two hits over five scoreless.

Shane Bieber

RHP

0-0, 4.50 ERA, 2 SO

Bieber will make his first start of the season on Friday vs. the Blue Jays. Because of the team's two off-days in the first six days of the season, Bieber's first outing was pushed back, and he began the year working out of the bullpen.

Dude, love your initiative.. However, I got to ask.. What is your record in GDTs?

umm So is Brito like a prospect that has hitting tools and a high celing

or is this the case of putting the fast black guy on the top of the lineup? Cause he is fast

Brito leading off is just... Utterly dumb at this point.

He might be something eventually, but he's not that thing yet...

This has to be at the request of Shatkins.

f*** guys - we've been no-hit through 6 innings like 3 times now. Montoyo's just throwing everything against the wall and hoping that something sticks.

Brito .994 OPS and .403 OBP vs. RHP in AAA last year. 99% percentile sprint speed and hit a ball 105 mph for an out yesterday.

= leadoff hitter in lost season.

was this in the same league that JPA won the MVP award?

A guy named Socrates can never be a good baseball player... But here we are, leadoff hitter for the 2019 blue jays.

I disagree, Socrates Brito is like a 70 grade name. It's no Max Pentecost, but we've lost him now, so we have to make do.

I feel the exact opposite as you on this matter. Socrates Brito is a superstar name.

In what universe is a guy named Socrates lower on the name grade scale than one named "Max"?

I can think of a noted Brazilian soccer star of the 80s, a man made to drink hemlock more than 2000 years ago (possibly reflected in famous dialogues) and an Isocrates around the same time as a philosopher.

Disagree. It's got be an 80-grade name.

Max Pentecost is very clearly a spy, in fact there has been fan fiction based on that name alone that alludes to that.

Nah, it's good, but not quite 80, hence my 70 assessment.

Rowdy Tellez is an 80 grade name.

Brito hits the ball really hard into the ground. One of these days its going to bounce over an infielders head for a hit!
