I think everyone is being a bit hard on Pillar considering he has to start each atbat with two strikes... wait, what....? He doesn’t...? nvm

Buck and Pat's nonsense usually doesn't bother me but they've been annoyingly smug about the strikeouts in this era to start the season.

They react with sarcasm about the state of the game when Greiner singles the other way against Giles. Like how does someone watch baseball for hours every day and seem to be completely unable to consider that the rise in strikeouts might actually have some effect from the assembly line of freaks-of-nature that the hitters face today? Instead of seeing a starter 3 or 4 times a game and every non-closer reliever throwing 86 mph meatballs, hitters have to now face 4 or 5 different guys throwing 95 who also have breaking balls. Sure, a change in approach also has also had an effect on the rising strikeout rates. But that change in approach is largely also a symptom of the same thing, with a single being worth relatively less in a run environment with fewer baserunners.

I just don't know how you can have followed the game so long and so, seemingly, closely but still appear to hold some belief that players are being selfish and foolish.

Do you guys think Goose Gossage pays our broadcast team to pump the benefits of sac bunts? It seems nearly impossible for them to not bring it up and rave the "successful" sac bunt - how they showed the willingness to manufacture runs and give up their at bats. Those twits must have mentioned it 4 times in the post game show. It was such a minor, insignificant moment in the game, yet they can't help but jizz about it.

That said - a sac bunt in that situation wasn't an awful idea...but the rational is that Richard Urena sucks. He can't hit and thus a bunt might be his only hope of doing something productive.

I trust everyone took my advice in the OP and bet the under today.

I don't know what planet Vegas thought this would be a 9 run game, did they not watch the first two

You answered your own question...they don't follow baseball closely. They show up, call what happens, repeat a bunch of useless sayings, mislead casual fans and then they go home.

lol I was looking at the odds last night at like 4am while I watching the Dodgers game and saw it at 8.5 with juice (1.95). I just assumed at the very least it would go down to 1.91 so I threw a bunch of money on it and to my surprise the odds stayed firm right up until game time....so I put more money on it. Pretty happy with that win.
