Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Smith Jr. has poor foot speed. He's slower than the average major leaguer. Pompey is a lot faster and can play CF. Pompey isn't a world beater but if he makes it to the upper 1/3 of his projections or so he's a viable major leaguer. I'd like to see them give him a shot. I wish we could find a taker for Pillar. I read that the Giants had interest earlier this offseason and they could really use him. Their OF is pathetic. Are we so sure about this? Last time we saw him, he was completely lost defensively. This reminds me of when we thought Teo could play a passable CF in spring training last year...

glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 McKinney seems so disgustingly ordinary that it still pains me he was the main prospect coming back for Happ. There wasn't some 19 year old in A-ball on another team with at least a 10% chance of being a star that we could have gotten instead? A 1 WAR platoon outfielder that needed 40 man roster protection shouldn't have been something we coveted.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 Agreed. Especially when guys like Dietrich, Avisail Garcia and Denard Span are all signing for peanuts. What's the point of McKinney? Same can be said for Drury too.
