saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 LOL....EE is going to average that in his down years? What are next week's lotto numbers? Not to mention Smoak basically produced similar results for far less money. Smoak didn't replace EE, Morales did. Morales has not produced similar results although he's getting 11 mil and EE would have got 20 so we saved some money. It would have been wise to avoid both in hindsight.
Heinke50 Verified Member Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Boyz focus. Back to Tulo. I'm in the camp that would have liked to see what he could have done now that he is apparently healthy. Especially because i think it would help Vlad to be playing Defense next to one of the premier defensive short stops in the game. I would rather have that then him playing besides Gurriel. I think a Vlad, Tulo, Lourdes and Smoak infield has a better chance than a Vlad, Lourdes, Travis and Smoak infield. Travis is such a defensive liability out there.

Tylo could have been the difference between 78 wins and 75 wins. Big maybe

Big maybe I think we all agree the amount of wins in the next few seasons is irrelevant since they ain't making the playoffs. The main goal is the development of Vlad and some of the young guys. In baseball, you need some vets around the young guys to help them develop and be somewhat competitive. And Vlad can obviously hit but his defense still needs development, and Tulo would be a good player to learn from.

I do wonder how engaged he would be on a bottom feeder team. Suspect this was part of the discussion between the Jay's and tulo Also, welcome to the board, great group here
Raineman73 Verified Member Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Stay classy, Tulo. Try not to tear your MCL or Achille's tendon patting yourself on the back.

Case in point - Jansen has said that Maile and not Russell Martin mentored him last year when he arrived in Toronto. Assuming all former star players become good mentors is flawed.

Yes, let's just conveniently ignore the fact that those guys were also geriatric af and keeping those guys would've basically made us the next 2012-2014 Phillies. A s*** team with a ton of geriatric players on hideous contracts.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Tulo with home run number 2 today.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Did he look like Joe Carter after game 6 again? yes it's his new home run trot....it's called the "in your face shatkins" home run trot.
