Lol you actually don't see the difference? Jesus Christ.

Is tipping pitches intentional? No, obviously not. Not tipping pitches is a requirement to be a good pitcher. Is relaying pitch selection to a pitcher intentional because there's no one on second to steal signs? Yes, there's an assumption it's safe because there shouldn't be anyone there to see what they're doing.

That you can't tell the difference between noticing trends and using technology to cheat is pretty amazing, imo.

I was just curious if people saw a difference between watching the live broadcast v. watching a secret camera that's been set up in CF.

Can they watch the broadcast and look for a pitcher tipping his pitches? Or can you only use the naked eye? What about people looking at game tape (pregame) to pick up on a pitcher tipping his pitches?

I didn't even take a side on this man - I just posed some questions for discussion. You people need to calm the f*** down. You come here, enjoy this message board and then get all riled up every time someone says something you don't agree with.

Astros need to be punished heavily. Wouldn’t surprise me if we learned more as well. It goes against every moral fibre of the game.

What's the difference between working out a lot to build muscle and using steroids? Same thing, really

what's the difference between working out a lot using basic supplements like creatine, protein powder and vitamins, and taking steroids?

How come one group of performance enhancers are allowed but another group is not? I have never understood this.

Is it just because steroids have more risk so some people don't want to take them? Why not just legalize steroids (and hgh)? It would be a lot more fair that way since at least everyone would have the option of taking them if they wanted and we wouldn't have a small group of cheaters who are actually getting an unfair upper hand over everyone else

Steroids are illegal outside of sports. Surely you understand why some substances are illegal and some legal right?

Not saying this is definitive evidence, but here might be an instance of the Astros using the CF camera to relay the pitches, pretty much as soon as the sign is put down.

I don't know, I feel like this is pretty s*****. There's a difference between a team simply picking up a pitcher's movements that may be tipping them off or a guy on base relaying signs and using technology to do so, when it's not allowed.

Wow... that's quite damning, and ********. As L54 said this takes away the moral competition and sportsmanship of the game, terrible.

So if my kid wants to play baseball, he has to take steroids or be at a distinct disadvantage? It becomes a barrier to entry. Then even if I decide to let my kid take steroids, I have to somehow pay for that s*** and then Billy's parents down the street are paying for even better s***, so my kid still loses.

And then there's some kid with broke parents who is completely natural and he doesn't make it.

I agree we should ban rich kids

Honestly, MLB should perhaps strip Houston of their banners if this stuff is proven (depending on how deep it runs) and any player or staff member implicated should be suspended under the PED punishment schedule.

I don't think I can be convinced otherwise.

Houston's moral depravity is a blight on the game. The organization sold its soul a few years ago. There is now a laundry list of immoral acts. This one happens to be straight up cheating, though.

I think you come down hard on them then the other 28 teams cheating will think twice about it.

There's a pretty big difference between steroids and protein powder/creatine/vitamins, without even factoring the legality of it all.

Verlander over Cole for Cy. Everyone had them 1-2 so really little between them but I have to think that this one came down to one being more unlikable than the other. It's not the most egregious decision but mlb.com voters were 6-2 for Verlander, including both of Houston's votes.

They may have taken performance with respect to age into account too (not that they should). Can't complain with either choice, but I think Cole clearly should have won it.

I think there should be a hard rule that no Astro pitcher should win, so Cole wasn't the right choice either.

I bet there will be voters that say WHIP

bWAR. Verlander = 7.8 (1st in MLB). Cole = 6.9 (4th in AL).

Crazy eh, wow!

The Braves on Thursday signed left-handed reliever Will Smith to a three-year contract worth $39 million, with a 2023 club option worth $13 million.

Smith, along with Braves executive vice president and general manager Alex Anthopoulos, will be available to the media on Tuesday at SunTrust Park at 2 p.m. ET.

Jose Abreu accepts his offer. I don't think any of the 7 remaining guys are going to be severely impacted by the QO to the extent that they linger into the season. Maybe Ozuna.

So Smith rejected the QO for an extra 2/21M? That seems dumb maybe?

Dude has already experienced losing a season to an exploded arm and has only made like 12M in salary in his career. I feel like I'd probably take 3/40 instead of rolling the dice on 1/18 I were him.
