Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 Cody Allen was DFA'd by the Angels, fastball velocity just continued to drop. D'd FA would be a more correct abbreviation but it just looks wrong.

D'd FA would be a more correct abbreviation but it just looks wrong. He still has plenty of velocity even with the drop, he's just not locating the fastball. Maybe he's overthrowing in trying to compensate for losing a few MPH. I'd love for us to pick him up as a free agent (but not claim him off waivers).
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Ruth jersey sells for $5.6m amongst other items auctioned by the family. They’re like: “we wanted to share his personal collection with a new generation of fans”..lol..sure that’s why https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/26980965/ruth-yankees-jersey-auctioned-record-564m
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Edwin Encarnacion to the Yankees. I hate to see it.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Kenley Jansen performed an intentional balk last night. http://dodgersdigest.com/2019/06/15/kenley-jansen-executed-a-rare-intentional-balk-last-night/ Reasoning appears to be to prevent the runner on second from stealing signs? Weird and cool.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 Lol Trevor Bauer is an ******* in the best possible way
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2019 Posted June 16, 2019 The guy that shot Ortiz is now saying it wasn’t supposed to be Ortiz. He just happened to look like the target lol He obviously knows he’s about to get f***ed up or worse in prison https://www.yahoo.com/sports/confessed-ortiz-shooter-wasnt-supposed-205257318.html

Ray Verified Member Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Marcus Semien deserves some credit for what he's done in recent years. He's slowly gone from a horrid defender at short (-11.7 UZR in 2015) to a plus defender (8.1 UZR in 2019) and has also cut his K-rate nearly 10% since 2015 while also improving his walk rate by ~3%. Ranked 8th in the MLB in fWAR right now.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Cesar Puello was hitting .390/.500/.683 for the Angels with 0.9 fWAR in only 12 games. They DFA'd him today. Tough!

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Okay, so why was he DFA'd here... This seems like there's some backstory. The backstory is that Justin Upton is very good and he's a career minor leaguer enjoying a two week hot streak. The Angels will very likely not miss him.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 There was some hype around Puello as a prospect I remember. We've seen a lot of hitters have late breakouts before, and he had the pedigree for one possibly. Jays should pick him up ASAP.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 It blows my mind that Madison Bumgarner is only 29.
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 It blows my mind that Madison Bumgarner is only 29. I heard a prospect podcast compare Daniel Espino's "bad" arm action to Bumgarner's and I thought that was pretty coooool
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 It blows my mind that Madison Bumgarner is only 29. With all the mileage on his arm, he's probably closer to being like 34-35.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 Lawrie was being mentioned in the same sentence as Trout, once upon a fleeting time. What a dud.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 By who? Prob when at the time he had like one of the best first 100 ABs in history. That was before it’s become much more common for prospects to come up and mash
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 By who? Can't recall the names but there were some articles written with Lawrie mentioned along with Trout and a few others as top young players in the game.
