Laika Community Moderator Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Chris Sale looks hurt. Like he's not finishing his pitches. Very much seems to be entering that "2013 CC Sabathia" phase of his career.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 22 pitches in and Sale hasn't only cracked 90 MPH twice.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 1st inning, Sale fastball sitting 89-90, 91 top velocity edit - typed this up 10 mins ago, decided to watch the Davis AB before posting
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Kendrys Morales woke up one morning and actively decided to shave a square into his beard below his lip.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Chris Sale sitting 89-90, topping out at 91. Just in case anybody missed the 8 posts.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 At least if Chris Sale is a pumpkin now it's after Boxy traded for him and Boston gave him $150M.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 At least if Chris Sale is a pumpkin now it's after Boxy traded for him and Boston gave him $150M. I'll be legit worried for Boxy's health if Chris Sale breaks now after trading Benintendi and Bichette for him.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Lol, Morales showing his defensive acumen there. I wonder who will finish this game with a higher FB velocity, Fiers or Sale?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 I'll be legit worried for Boxy's health if Chris Sale breaks now after trading Benintendi and Bichette for him. Benny and Bo? Are you kidding
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Dombrowski doing us a favor by signing these big contracts. Hopefully he cheaps out on Betts.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Sale at 89 to 91 isn't nearly as scary. Yeah, something's quite wrong.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Fier's an idiot... Edit: Hmmm...
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Cody Bellinger is on an absolute tear to start the season.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Sad day for former Aces. Bumgarner is sitting 90, just gave up a grand slam. No strikeouts through 3 innings. I wonder how long Greinke can hang on.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Looks like Pillar just got to the Giants' dugout. Man that seemed fast.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 It's sad to watch this version of Albert Pujols.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 It's sad to watch this version of Albert Pujols. You missed that ending in LA, lol. Same s*** here, lol.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Looks like Pillar just got to the Giants' dugout. Man that seemed fast. And he just struck out for the first time as a Giant.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Is Christian Walker a thing? That's a swing of beauty. EV was 112.4 MPH. Barrelled.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Zack Greinke has 10 strikeouts and no walks over 5.1 innings as a pitcher, and two homeruns as a hitter. He's hit more homers than he's given up (2 to 1).
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Ramon Laureano's arm is becoming the stuff of legends.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Jesus f***ing Christ, that is ungodly.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Is that an 80 arm? I feel pretty compelled to slap an 8 on that bad boy at this point.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Author Posted April 3, 2019 There’s a fascinating article in the Sports Illustrated MLB preview edition about the use of tech to analyse pitching. Cameras, motion tech and even VR. Apparently when the Astros signed Verlander their tech (stuff that the Tigers didn’t use) identified issues with his slider and two seam fastball, he made adjustments and results improved. The Astros and Dodgers are mentioned as leading the field, with a few teams like the Marlins described as having the tech but not having the right people to analyse the results. We’re not mentioned but it does say “virtually” every team has similar resources now.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Lindor now also has a diagnosed ankle injury Will miss at least 3 more weeks
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 And... P2F is spent after watching that 1st inning by Luis Castillo.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 And... P2F is spent after watching that 1st inning by Luis Castillo. Hopefully he's still cleaning up and not watching the 2nd.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Man, I really wish I was able to watch this pitcher's duel. I own three shares of Castillo and two of Peralta. Scouting the stat line, both were impressive today.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Willians Astudillo is an absolute monster.
