I think the idea is that Alford will get more reps playing everday in Buffalo. I’m not a huge fan of Teoscar either but nobody is exactly knocking on the door to take away his playing time.

Some people believe there’s a small chance he breaks out and develops into an above average bat if given regular playing time.. we will see. I’m not really buying it just yet.

You're kind of missing my entire point... he is probably already an above average bat... his defense and average base running will never make up for it. He's kind of like a poor man's Nelson Cruz (piss poor!).

Teoscar's plate discipline appears to have improved significantly so far this year. BB% is up from a league-average 7.8% to a well-above average 14.3%, and he has trimmed his K rate from a horrible 31.% down to a perfectly-acceptable 21.4%. Obviously it's still very early, but K and BB rates are some of the first numbers to actually stabilize, so there's some reason for hope here. If he can maintain his approach, the power will follow.

His swing is beautiful but he sorely lacks leads on the ball in the outfield and needs to be more patient with his bat. Give him 100 AB then see what you have in him

I heard he is up to 280 lbs as of first day of Spring Training. That was over 6 weeks ago. Have they weighed him since?? What is he at last time on the scale??

Pretty worried. He's only hit singles in Dunedin. Is he too fat to generate bat speed??? Or were they actually off the wall and he was too fat to get to second??

Either way how can this guy be ready for the majors??

Is the next Justin Upton. The other Billy McKinney thread is fake news. Post your thoughts on this one.

Sounds to me like I have grounds for a libel suit

Seems to me we got a boat load of non-talent on this team and a whole lot of filler / cannon fodder.

Only guys I see with some future potential are:

-Tellez

Yup, that's it.

Guy hits a lot of singles. I'm wondering if he's too fat and it's inhibiting his bat speed or if he's hitting everything off the wall and is too fat to make it to second?

did anyone actually think we were getting something good for a month of jay happ?

Saying he's a better player than Dwight Smith Jr. - who by the way sucks again, who could have seen that coming? - wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement of Billy McKinney.

I'm glad this thread has sparked legitimate discussion. That was my goal.

Orgfiller co-owns a dynasty team(s?) with King... clearly there are some major flaws in judgement.

I thought he measured 6’2” 250lbs in spring training?

Either way Vladdy is a big boy, but’s it’s not like he hangs out at McDonalds 24/7 or sits on the couch all day. The dude works out. Vlad’s daily meal plans are basically handled by his 80+ year old grandma that cooks entire pots of juicy Caribbean food for him on the regular and Vlad himself has a very healthy appetite to begin with.

She’s been doing this since daddy Vlad Guerrero Sr was in the minors, and I’m not sure how the organization plans to get between Vlad Jr and his grandma. He can benefit from dietitians and trainers, and I’m sure he has them already. None of those fix the root of the problem.

I think when Jr is in the majors and regularly flies across the country to play baseball games, the org will have better control of his routine management. But it ultimately will be up to the kid how he spends his offseason.

I think you're making some solid excuses for the fact that Vlad is really really fat.
