Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Did Bichette's cleats slide out from under him there? Big hop or not? Nah... fooled by the turf.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 McClelland's FB looks really straight and hittable. Didn't show any good breaking ball either.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 They all have to make it ya dorks!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Weird, so who pitches tomorrow, who goes B2B, Norris for sure... Beeg, after SP. Luciano, Adam?
tercet Verified Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 McClelland's FB looks really straight and hittable. Didn't show any good breaking ball either. He is another guy with a big fastball (95-100) with iffy command now, like Zach Jackson, Patrick Murphy and Nate Pearson. Yea his slider wasn't working at all tonight, his fastball command was better then normal but still not ideal. His dad told me he has 5 pitches, but we only saw 2 tonight, fastball/slider. He is 6'5'' 275, his parents traveled with him at every game last year in the minors last year when he was in Dunedin/New Hampshire/Arizona, met them in New Hampshire and Arizona.
tercet Verified Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Vlad Guerrero jr diet plan? I guess, I dunno, I've been 6'4'' 190 for 10 years, yolo now

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 Which 8 guys are going to be in bullpen to start the season? I have a hard time finding 3 or 4 guys I'd want on a major league roster in the pen right now.

I have a hard time finding 3 or 4 guys I'd want on a major league roster in the pen right now. Giles Mayza Biagini Hudson Norris (if healthy) Luciano (if he's not returned to KC or acquired from them in a trade) And then whichever two of Gaviglio/Pannone/Thornton aren't in the rotation. I suspect we'll grow to hate this bullpen by mid-April.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 yeah that's pretty ugly. But hopefully its short lived and we'll see Phelps and Tepera back sooner rather than later to push everyone down the depth chart.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 The bullpen will be a strength this season. Just watch.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 The bullpen will be a strength this season. Just watch. now there's a prediction that belongs in the bold prediction thread! I hope you're right..lol.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Author Posted March 26, 2019 The bullpen will be a strength this season. Just watch. The bullpen this year will be the same as normal, i.e. some will be much better than expected (my prediction - Barnes), some will be terrible and be dfa'd (Phelps), some will do about as expected (Giles), and we'll cycle 15 or so players based on short term needs and injuries. Relievers are so random though that you could switch those 3 examples into any of the categories!

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 With or without some good names in our bullpen, this team suck. I just wanna see the young guys play and development (Jansen, Vladdy, Gurriel, Alford, Merryweather, SRF)

Ray Verified Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 What's everyones thoughts on Gurriel Jr. potentially breaking out this season? He's looked great this spring. Slashing .385/.447/.795, 4 walks, 7 K's. Gonna be another year adjusted to the league, and 2018 was still only his 2nd year back from a long extended break. I could see him having a Miguel Andujar type season.

Hoping that with the injury to Travis, Gurriel can establish himself as the full time starter at 2B, instead of being the utility player that he's always appeared destined to be. He'll never get a better opportunity, he's had a good spring training, still has 5 years left on his contract (so the FO will want to give him every chance) and no real rival on the current roster with Drury at 3B to start the season. When Vlad eventually comes up, it's probably between Drury and Gurriel as to who moves over to replace Urena/Sogard as the back up infielder, and who gets the majority of starts at 2B.

Drury also has some OF experience, so there's that. He may fit more of the UT profile. Travis is looking more and more like the odd man out unfortunately. I doubt he's on this roster a year from now.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 What are the chances the Jays finalize their 25-man today? Are we more likely looking at an announcement tomorrow?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Posted March 26, 2019 What are the chances the Jays finalize their 25-man today? Are we more likely looking at an announcement tomorrow? Hard to say. On one hand, you'd like to send players directly to their destinations after today's game. On the other hand, they may want to talk one last time with the staff. Are the Jays scheduled to fly out tonight or tomorrow morning?

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2019 Author Posted March 26, 2019 Where's lefty knuckler boy in all this? Feierabend‘s deal is only a minor league one, so we probably won’t see him until his contract is selected midway through the season.
