John Axford released.

Too bad it didn't work out for him. He's probably done. Seems like a nice guy who's always had an electric arm.

Yeah, they really don't need to be playing video games DURING the game...

It's always disappointing as a fan to hear reports of this happening with players. I remember years back there was reports that Rickey Henderson was in the clubhouse playing cards during a Mets playoff game or Griffey JR in his last year with the M's laying on a sofa watching cartoons while the game was being played.

I suppose the truth might be that the games don't matter to a lot of players as much as we think they do. That's why I don't mind guys like Stroman who might seem a little obnoxious but are clearly really into the game and winning.

The Blue Jays have paid RHP Bud Norris a retention bonus to keep him from opting out of his minor league contract.

Advice: Davidi reports the retention bonus is $100,000. Norris is currently dealing with forearm fatigue, and the retention bonus will keep him with Toronto. If they hadn't have paid it, he would have been eligible to opt-out of the deal and become a free agent. Instead, the Blue Jays won't have to add him to the 40-man roster until he's fully healthy, but there's likely another opt-out date for Norris this spring.

If I was organizing the Montreal exhibition games I would be pissed.. Monday and Tuesday night games against Milwaukee, Gaviligio and Pannone starting, no Vlad, none of the high profile prospects that I am aware of..... Sounds like a snooze fest...

Understand it is still ST. However, if you compare to years past when the games were on weekends or last year when you had Vlad, Bichette, etc in the line up or Martin homecoming his first year with his dad playing sax etc... So, my point is, relative to other ST series in Montreal, this one seems like it is looking to be a snooze fest...

Also two of Pannone/SRF and Thornton... possibly Adams.

Yeah, looks like whichever two of Pannone, Thornton and SRF doesn’t get Borucki’s rotation spot will go to the pen. And if Adams makes it too, that leaves the bench at Maile, McKinney/Hernandez platoon, and one of Urena/Sogard.

You have a point, but last year’s Vlad homer in Montreal was the highlight of the season. Always good to see a few of the top prospects, even in a spring training game.

Reid-Foley's scattershot approach to pitching seems to be very dependent on him getting the borderline high strike calls.
