SHATKINS SUCKS! THEY SHOULD HAVE SIGNED HARPER AND MACHADO, IT'S POINTLESS TO SIGN ANYONE BUT LITERALLY THE BEST PLAYERS OR THE GM SUCKS!

- Sportsnet comment section right now, probably.

I wondered if the release of Tulo was to create room for a MI upgrade at a good value (LeMahieu?). This makes that look improbable.

What is our payroll projection for 2019 ? If we are not landing Kukuchi then it looks like a rather large payroll reduction.

Hopefully we have flexibility to use it an opportune time during the rebuild.

It's only a minor league deal, nothing to see here... ;)

He was the runner-up to David Wright!

We all know that's not true. They rigged it in Wright's favour, no way he gets through the guys he beat and then loses to Wright.

Been saying it for a while but moves like this are further cementing it.

I got crucified for thinking last year was going to suck cause I didn't see the talent that others did. Is this a 100 loss team?

It depends what versions of Stroman and Sanchez we are getting. I don't have much faith in Sanchez but if Stroman is awful again we have basically zero pitching.

(Good teams make moves like this too)

are you joking?

Why is this even the least bit controversial? Surely you guys know me well enough by now to know that I'm not some casual fan screaming at the Jays for signing AAA trash. Of course all teams do it. Matter of fact I think we should tank this year.

But think about it, we traded Diaz for a fringe prospect who probably won't contribute this year, said we were looking for a veteran SS and subsequently signed Sogard. We also need SPs and have watched numerous backend guys get taken off the board. The Sogard signing certainly doesn't preclude us from acquiring anyone better than him but nothing I've seen, read or heard about this offseason makes me think we will. I'm sure Sogard's team discussed this with the Jays before he signed as well. Not that he has any pull but he's going to go where he has a shot to make a team. So yeah, I think we are going to suck this year and the Sogard signing makes me slightly more certain of that. I hope I'm wrong though!

Even if you get Cy Stroman that's only 20 % of your rotation. Could Sanchez find his 2016 self? Sure. Could Borucki build on his rookie season and be a solid #3? I guess. Could SRF find the strike zone consistently and be a nice #4? Yes. Is it possible that they catch lightning in a bottle and a #5 emerges that is a solid contributor? It happens every year.

But I'm gonna go with the math on this one and expect very few (possibly none) of those things to happen.

MINOR LEAGUE Contract!!!

Not to mention who cares, we need to see the kids play.

I like that the organization is finally not trying to create the illusion of competitive ball with duct tape. Embrace the s*** that is the Blue Jays for the foreseeable future, and let's build something special. It will take a few years, but I've been waiting 25 since the last championship...I have patience...just do it right.
