Just a spot where some of the proposed changes can sit. I don't think it will be a hugely busy year for this stuff but I can't ever find this stuff in the Around Baseball thread so new thread. Come fight me if you don't like it.

I'm in favour of adding additional waivers so this development is disappointing to me.

What's wrong with the waiver deadline? I mean I don't mind extending the main trade deadline, but the waiver deadline is harmless.

What harm does the 2nd deadline have, though? Either a player passes through waivers or he doesn't. Once in a while you will see a big trade (Verlander) but for the most part it's bit pieces changing teams. Not a big deal. I don't mind if they got rid of it, but I don't see why it would be a big deal to begin with.

It creates weird and awkward situations like the Donaldson thing this year

Well, they should just move the deadline back a month then.

There is no need to have 2 deadlines. It just complicates things for no reason. No other league has something this convoluted. There's no need for it. Make things more simple. It just makes sense.

The NBA has a trade deadline and then right after that a bunch of good players are bought out and sign with contending teams for nothing. How is that any different? That’s actually worse because teams are stacking themselves without having to give up assets, but no one complains about that.
