My ideal qualifications for the next manager would be:

- former major league catcher

- willing to implement any modern analytic strategies suggested by the front office

So... maybe John Gibbons?

Is Sal Fasano still alive?

Not gonna lie, I'd enjoy a Buck Showalter hire immensely. I don't even necessarily think he'd be good, but my god would it be entertaining.

Would be worth it just to see Boxy stroke out.

So... Who's slated to go first overall in the 2020 draft.

Some high school pitcher who will immediately have his career ruined, surely.

Not before he throws 10 straight balls to start off a game.

Why do you say that?

Rosenthal.

Why not Clapp or Schneider?

Be OK with either. Just prefer MacDonald due to MLB experience, knowledge of the game, was a clubhouse leader when he played, and seems to have the right temperament.

David Bell is interesting. Lots of minor league experience, goes from third base coach to hitting coach to bench coach to VP of player development for SF.

Sounds like we should know who it’ll be soon.

I'm glad we're getting ahead of other teams. Getting our pick of the litter.

John MacDonald please

I liked him but I don't see it happening or him being successful. He would make a decent infield coach and maybe after a few years he could graduate to manager. I just don't see a non-catcher in the role without coaching experience. Take a look at the White Sox string of infielder managers: Ozzie Guillen coached a few years before he managed, won a series in 2005 and had decent record... then won 69 games for the marlins. He was followed up with Ventura who had no experience and never had a winning season. Not saying it is impossible to find a good former infielder who knows the game and is good with players but I would rather a former catcher or someone more seasoned.

I can't say how good Ventura was of a manager because I don't watch a whole lot of White Sox games, but I think the losing record had to do with more of the s***** teams he had.
