Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 That slider is f***ing filth. Who said that Giles shouldn't throw it?
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Goddamn Giles was all kinds of nasty.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Giles brought out the filth today, unhittable stuff.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 That slider is f***ing filth. Who said that Giles shouldn't throw it? Gruber lmao
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 "Glen" Giles is going to be good trade bait next year.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Gruber lmao Not surprised.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 "Glen" Giles is going to be good trade bait next year. Preferably after his All-Star first half.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Giles looked nasty tonight. Gotta feel great for Jansen. How awesome would it be to see this guy develop into a good, young starting catcher?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 That slider is f***ing filth. Who said that Giles shouldn't throw it? Not surprised. Because I said Giles should have challenged Betts with an upper 90's fastball on a 3-2 count up by four runs with two out in the bottom of the ninth turns into you guys prefabricating the notion that I mean he should never throw his slider? Have ad it losers. That means you too Org the gorg.
tercet Verified Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Will this forum ever learn to stop scouting the stats line? Giles had several mistakes vs Gordon, but luckily Gordon is a terrible hitter now and missed the cookies. Last week Giles had a bunch of mistakes vs the Red Sox and they hit them far. But beisbol is weird, pitchers can make mistakes and get away with them with good results.

So we shouldn't look at stat lines, rather look at every single pitch throughout entire seasons, if not careers to judge a pitcher performance truly as you do.

Don't be silly. Don't look at every single pitch. Just watch a guy for a few pitches you'll be able to tell right away what he is. Tercet is full of s***. He's dissing averigish prospects and pretending he's a guru. He's got a win/win con job going. He's dissing guys the stats say have weakness. The stats say Reid Foley will have a 4ish era. The stats say Teoscar Hernandez will hit .240 .300 .450. If these guys do what the stats say, Tercet "wins" because he can claim he saw it coming. If Tercet is such a genius why isn't he telling us which prospects are going to overperform?? If stats don't mean anything then logically there should be guys with bad stats, who Tercet can pick out who are actually good.

I think that was not a 'mistake' but by design, because it is not as expected (just as Estrada throws the odd changeup high in the zone). Anyway, seems just 'save' Giles for save situations and all will be good (if only it was that simple )

Look pitchers make mistakes, with Giles stuff he has a higher margin of error, but just try not to throw middle-middle sliders.

How much do you want to bet that he wont? Let me think for a minute who will overperform. (no clue u win)
tercet Verified Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 The average jays fan sees SRF 3 era in AA/AAA with lots of strikeouts and think it will magically mean that he will be good in the majors. If I had to guess > 75% of Jays FO/scouts understand that SRF will more then likely get his face melted this year in the majors due to all of his flaws. The hope is with repetition and some tweaks he would become a good pitcher in due time, but not in 2018. I say that SRF will get his face melted and so much love from the casual baseball fans/idiots lol. How can we teach casual baseball fans?Getting Buck and Tabby off the air is a start right?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Wow... and I get my balls busted, lol.

DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Josh Donaldson was actually mentioned on the broadcast. Sometimes I forget hes even alive. I forgot all about him and Tulo, everytime I hear their names I remember they are still Jays.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2018 Posted August 16, 2018 I assume Rivera has no clue how strong Phillips arm is, lol.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2018 Posted August 16, 2018 I assume Rivera has no clue how strong Phillips arm is, lol. Fact of the matter is that the Jays had lead off doubles in two out of the three innings that were followed by empty AB's. Horrible execution by professional ball players.
