Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Which posters are on the podcast? I've listened to a few and a few guys seem insightful and some do not. I'd like to match them to their actual posts as well. Maybe, I'm missing something. Edit: not trying to be insulting.. but the episodes i've listened to have dead air and people waiting for other people to talk. Every time, I've thought that you could cut it down to 2/3 people at most and it would be better. I haven't listened to the latest two though. P2F - Michael Laika - Nick Boxy - Alan Dr. Dinger - Andrew John Havok - John
jmomcc Verified Member Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 P2F - Michael Laika - Nick Boxy - Alan Dr. Dinger - Andrew John Havok - John I went back and listened to parts of one of the episodes I liked. I have no idea who is talking because apparently no is introduced. I guess that would be note one.

I have no idea who is talking because apparently no is introduced. I guess that would be note one. I commented l something similar in the past. John and Alan’s voice stand out to me a bit more than others, sometimes it’s difficult to put a name to the voice talking. I’m starting to get used to it though. They’re getting better at eliminating the dead air and awkward moments. Making a professional podcast recording is actually a lot more difficult than it looks. Edit: Nick is hilarious Edited June 3, 2019 by BlueRocky
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Generally..... Alan is the guy who sounds gay, and goes off on tangents Andrew generally disagrees with Alan on everything. Nick is more soft spoken, the logical mind. Might be Jewish? Mike is usually the guy whose talking when Alan interrupts. Also may or may not have gonorrhea. I'm the host.

Yup, certainly hard to pick out between the 3 of them guys. I think I have about 4 episodes to catch up on. Learning curves are expected, obviously.

BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 It would be super easy to incoportate something like “Hi I’m the host John. I’m joined by Alan, Andrew, Mike, and Nick.” It’s a bit redundant every episode, but when I dig back other sports podcasts they actually do that even though 99% of the audience already know who’s talking.

I've been saying this since day one. A role call, though unnecessary to the five of us, is crucial for new listeners.

BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 (edited) Day 1 is round 1 and 2 Day 2 is round 3 to 10 Day 3 is round 11 to 40 A round 1 mock draft from Radioscouts would be interesting. Bonus points if you guys even explain your picks rather than drawing from a hat. HoF comps would be hilarious. The Radioscouts podcast really differentiate themselves from other BJs media. You’ll often cover topics that are either never talked about or barely covered in other pods. You’ll also be blunt going over various topics, like when a player sucks, their trade values, etc. There’s even a hint of fantasy baseball talk from time to time. There’s also a lot of humour there which is a different style, I don’t see much in other pods other than maybe Birds All Day, which is behind a paywall now with The Athletics. They were very successful and I think had over 1K in monthly patreon support and 300++ patreons before joining the Athletic. I know you guys generously volunteer your time, but would love to see you guys take off and get more support. Usually when there’s no financial drive or support, things don’t last long and it would be a shame, I really like this pod. Kinda like that hidden gem mom and pops restaurant that’s got amazing food but nobody’s heard of them, and they stubbornly never increase their prices to make their business practical, eventually close down the business. I understand most of you guys have real jobs. Overall great episode, I’ll likely listen to it again when I hit the gym. Edited June 2, 2019 by BlueRocky
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Trying to gauge interest: is anyone interested in a live recording for the draft? We have to be better than Harold Reynolds, right? You guys doing this?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2019 Author Posted June 2, 2019 You guys doing this? Mike, John and myself are in. Would like to get Nick too, 99% chance Andrew is busy
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Go join em Spanky. I won’t be home and will be very late
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2019 Author Posted June 2, 2019 Kawhi Leonard is my kryptonite. I just can't deal with that laugh.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 After listening to this, I feel so vindicated that Alan is objectively wrong about paper straws.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2019 Author Posted June 4, 2019 In case you guys are wondering, I got the mower and holy f***. I moved in late April, and the previous owners has not mown in awhile. I didn't mow until this past weekend. Grass was basically knee high. My EGO destroyed everything on one charge. I harvested almost 4 bushels of grass clippings. Amazing product and I'll be getting their string trimmer shortly.
