metafour Verified Member Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 They are running out of space to recoup that 500k they are over. You understand that all of these bonuses are predetermined at the point of selection, right? Why people worry over this boggles my mind. If they were going to be over, they wouldn't have selected the players that they selected.

Why people react to an observation on a discussion board with vitriol and assumptions boggles my mind! No where did I say I was worried, I am curious to where they are going to find the savings. From what I have read Conine was not expected to need to go too much under slot. Since this is a discussion board perhaps we can discuss it instead. :-)

Especially since going over their pool by more than allowed would result in penalties they certainly don't want to incur.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Zomg!! Three jayzzz ar going to exceed the cap!!!1!!1!
metafour Verified Member Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 No where did I say I was worried, I am curious to where they are going to find the savings. The two Seniors (Bec and Brodt) are the only ones who haven't had their bonus announced yet, so obviously the savings can only come from them LOL.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Author Posted June 16, 2018 Updated the list with signings that weren't reported by Callis/Mayo: - The Jays signed 9th rounder Jake Brodt for $5,000 - The Jays signed 10th rounder Cal Stevenson for $5,000 - The Jays signed 11th rounder Hunter Steinmetz for $125,000 - The Jays signed 14th rounder John Aiello for $125,000 - The Jays signed 20th rounder Vinny Capra for $1,000 - The Jays signed 22nd rounder Gage Burland for $1,000
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 Anyone know if they are starting Wymer or leaving him in a relief role?
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 They’d probably pull a Biagini and let him start till he fails, but I rather see an elite reliever. His college performance in starting role vs bullpen wasn’t even close
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 In the minors? Starting, without a doubt. The point is to get as many innings under his belt as he can to develop and hone his craft. Get the innings under his belt so he's ready sooner than later.

Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 so Jays have to save about $287,000 from the signings of Conine and round 5 guy. Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 We'll probably get all the savings from Bec. College seniors get like $5K - $10K
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Lol the agents of those players could screw the entire draft up for the Jays by demanding more $.
metafour Verified Member Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 Lol the agents of those players could screw the entire draft up for the Jays by demanding more $. I highly doubt that these no-name Seniors have agents. These are dudes that are just happy to get a chance to play. Even if they did have agents, you realize that agents have their own reputation to uphold, right? That is why they don't pull crap like that (ie: all of a sudden demanding more money).

Oh I know it wouldn't happen but I think one of those senior players didn't sign a couple years back with the Jays and it cost them over 200K in pool space. Conine would have an agent for sure.

Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 i would guess that jays got the remainder of the required savings from the signing of Senior C Chris Bec. He is already playing in Vancouver. But that is just my opinion because i can't find any information online Conine deal is close to done but nothing finalized. Maybe he's going to Bluefield?

Safe to assume the majority of savings came from that pick, but if I'm reading it all correctly, Conine will be coming in slightly underslot as well.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2018 Author Posted June 20, 2018 More bonus announcements: Round 02 - Griffin Conine: Signed for 1.35M Round 17 - Austin Havekost: Signed for 100K Round 19 - Adrian Ramos: Signed for 125K Round 23 - Troy Squires: Signed for 1K Round 38 - Francisco Ruiz: Signed for 100K
Todd Verified Member Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Here is a question for you. Is Ryan and Patrick Thurston the same guy or are they brothers signed by the blue jays
bendera3 Verified Member Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Here is a question for you. Is Ryan and Patrick Thurston the same guy or are they brothers signed by the blue jays I think they are Jays prospects 104 and 105 for you.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 I think they are Jays prospects 104 and 105 for you. No. They're ahead of Alford. 102-103.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 As long as we've signed Christopher Bec for no more than $76,897 we'll stay within the 5% overage.
