L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 No ******** from me. If Osuna did hit a woman, if proven, I never want to see him again. I expect him to be a criminal and have his work visa revoked. There is no place for this crap. Athletes are not my heros (Bobby Orr was when I was a kid), they are pawns for entertainment. Coming to Canada is a privilege. I saw a video a few months ago. I think it had a AA player hitting a girl a number of times in a stairwell. What happened to him? STOP the f***in violence!! That video was disgusting
AledmysDiaz Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Bobcat on PTS claiming no one should be surprised. That Osuna has multiple children out of wedlock and that there are "rumors" regarding his social life.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Board liberal police editing comments they don’t like but could be truthful. About the “victim”. Guy should get benefit of the doubt to get his story out. Girls can be psychos man, either making something up or provoking the situation. It wasn’t long ago in a relationship a girl got mad at me and was hitting me and I just wanted to get away from her but she blocked the door and wouldn’t let me leave. I had to literally pull her off the door to leave and then she dramatically fell down and was crying like I did something. Girls can be psycho. I’ve run hotels and had to call cops plenty of times with girls hitting the guy. Sometimes guy does it back and in those cases they’re both just losers. But it’s a lot different than Ray Rice type of thing I’m not going to assume to guy is a bum until I see some evidence showing he is
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 That doesn’t even factor in the extra “crazy” when famous person is involved
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Clearly racial profiling. If Osuna was a white guy who spoke perfect English with no accent the police would give him a playful pat on the bum and let him be on his way.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Well that was a quick career. Who becomes the Jay's closer now? Tepera?

Roger's is hardcore liberal, Osuna is done.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Everybody in this thread who has said hindsight stuff like "The Jays should have traded Osuna last off-season when his value was high" need to be banned for a week. f***ing lame hindsight armchair QBs
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 The fact that he wasn't remanded into custody suggests the assault allegation itself was on the lower end. That said, if he is convicted he faces a potential jail sentence. There is currently a push from the federal government and provincial attorney's general to increase sentences for domestic assault. Even if he avoids true jail after sentencing he could face a lengthy period of house arrest on a conditional sentence, which would obviously cause trouble for his baseball career.

The modern standard is to make your first court appearance in custody as opposed to a promise to appear on these types of charges... despite the presumption of innocence.

ColdPint Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Jesus, in the last two weeks the Leafs got bounced in the first round after a historic season, the Raptors get absolutely embarrassed as the first seed and now the Jays are dealing with a serious domestic abuse issue. My emotional attachment to Toronto sports is at an all time low.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 I guess my thoughts would be... The Jays should have traded Osuna last off-season when his value was high. That's all i got.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Thursday the Jay's were set to give away 15,000 tshirts with Osuna on them. Rumor is they are going to give away wife beaters instead... I will see myself out.

I thought the same, released on his own recognizance means he did f*** all, imo. Likely a loud argument, I hope, for everyone involved.

I agree that if he did anything close to what Danry Vasquez (the stairwell puncher) did he needs to be severely punished, including jail time. But no one knows the details of the allegations so lets not lump him into that basket yet... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIOY2ezMy9A

justafan Verified Member Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 "own recognizance" is a bail condition. He had to post bail. Unlike in the US, there is no posting of money. There is a promise to pay if you break the conditions.
