AledmysDiaz Verified Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Not sure where I should put this, But Barker and Blair on todays podcast were really high on Pillar. Barker thinks Pillar is a changed hitter and is really seeing the baseball now. According to Barker, Pillar is keeping his head down and he is hitting more line drives. Blair chimed in by mentioning that Pillar is benefiting from hitting in the middle of the lineup. Barker thinks Pillar can hit 50 doubles a year. 280 to .300
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Dogg, Barker is a f***ing moron. This isn't the first time Pillar has gone through a stretch like this.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Pillar is actually swinging and missing at a higher rate this season. Couple that with a lower contact rate than last season, and he's a true mirage. It's all BABIP, which is currently 66 points higher than what he finished at last season. It's just luck - nothing to see here, unfortunately. Having said that, I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong. Once again, Barker is a f***ing moron.
baubau Verified Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Does anyone know of any good baseball podcasts? I don't mind At The Letters and planning on listening to Shulman's soon, though his is more personal from what I gather.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 I need to look into these podcast things you young hipster talk about...

I believe his average exit velocity is up but that is it. As you said he's worse in other areas. That said, I do think he's been a little unlucky with his BABIP the past couple of years so I'm hopeful he's in the 90+ wRC+ range rather than the 80s which he's been.
AledmysDiaz Verified Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 K but according to the podcast Pillar is hitting .290 with 2 strikes. The league generally hits about .170 But pillar is keeping his eye on the ball according to Barker. This is why this is likely to continue Lol f*** me I'm out. No more GDT posts today Go Jays

No more GDT posts today Go Jays Yeah I did see the 2 strikes thing. Russell Martin and Justin Smoak are two guys who managed to change their approach with 2 strikes to help their numbers. Not sure if Pillar has done that too or if he's just a mirage.

Dogg is trolling (as per usual), but I do enjoy him keeping us posted on all the incredibly stupid things that Barker says throughout the year. I still think we need a thread devoted to all the stupid things that our local broadcast teams says.

Ray Verified Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 That's a really nice lineup Our lineup is actually really good if Donaldson comes back and Travis starts hitting again. Donaldson, Gurriel, Travis, Smoak INF with Grandy/Pearce platoon, Hernandez, and Pillar in the OF is real nice.

Yeah thatd be a killer lineup and whoever isn't in the outfield can dh and we can all say bye to Morales, I keep hoping to wake up one morning and see that Morales is gone
baubau Verified Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 THT Audio is a good one. Will check that out! I have been meaning to before but never got around to it. I get super lazy haha. Haven't listened to it but Barry Davis does one! At the Letters is the only one I listen to. Yeah... I'll check it out, but I was never a fan of Barry. See what content they have and if its good. At The Letters is probably the best Jays-focused podcast I have ran into.

And even if Travis doesn't get back to form, solarte would look good at 2nd with his bat
Ray Verified Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 And even if Travis doesn't get back to form, solarte would look good at 2nd with his bat Totally forgot about Solarte. Maybe rotate Solarte and Travis between DH and 2B every now and then.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Is Pearce hurt? Must be, right? managerial decision...not hurt.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 managerial decision...not hurt. Really? I hope his gut, or Management's plea is right.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 jd 2 for 2 against Joe Musgrove who's also on a rehab assignment, but he has one error. Hopefully the error wasn't a throwing error!
Smokinitup420 Verified Member Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 Pearce is out, Morales in. Sigh I knew it was too good to be true, to be Morales free for the night
