Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Good. His backups are better than he is so this isn't a loss at all.
BallsDeep Verified Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Anything we get from Tulo here on out is a bonus, not expecting much.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 It's not surprising but it's not good news IMO. Tulo to Diaz probably isn't that much of a dropoff anymore but it means a turd like Gift will be on the team and he suxxx.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 I kinda want Tulo around to mentor Bo, but man the Jays are getting a horrible deal. 0 WAR in 2017, injured in 2018 (who knows how many games he actually plays given his injury), and two more years after this as he inches closer to 35.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 I guess were at the point when new / infrequent posted rise from ashes and start too many threads? wicked.
AledmysDiaz Verified Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Maybe its time to consider turning Tulo into Soylent Green, and recovering some of our investment that way. Lol
Shart Verified Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Is there an LTIR in baseball where he essentially retires, he gets his money and his salary comes off our cap? I believe a doctor needs to sign off on it...
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 I guess were at the point when new / infrequent posted rise from ashes and start too many threads? wicked. We could use it. This was a really dead offseason for us.
baconpancakes Verified Member Posted March 29, 2018 Author Posted March 29, 2018 I guess were at the point when new / infrequent posted rise from ashes and start too many threads? wicked. wtf? I thought -officially- losing our supposed starting SS was relevant. Um, sorry i guess???
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 wtf? I thought -officially- losing our supposed starting SS was relevant. Um, sorry i guess??? It's all good. Besides whenever you post it reminds me I haven't had bacon pancakes in awhile so make as many threads as you want.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 this is thread worthy yes Tulo suxxxxx
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 I mean this was pretty much a forgone conclusion. Apparently he isn't even running yet. I expect nothing from him this season. Unfortunately I feel the same way about Diaz.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 How close is Gurriel? We may need him right away.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Is there an LTIR in baseball where he essentially retires, he gets his money and his salary comes off our cap? I believe a doctor needs to sign off on it... It doesn't matter right now, we aren't close enough to the cap to where we'd need to worry.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 How close is Gurriel? We may need him right away. He just needs to stay healthy and if he performs will be here quickly. He missed a big chunk of time last year and wasn’t very good when healthy. I do think we see him sooner rather than later. He will easily bypass Urena.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Could care less rather Diaz then Tulo
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 How close is Gurriel? We may need him right away. Hard to gauge him last year. He had a helluva time coming over from Cuba and basically didn't play organized baseball for 14 months. He was pretty bad but played pretty well in the fall league. Hopefully he was just knocking the rust off and can get acclimated quickly so we can call him up by midseason.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Is there a scenario where insurance pays his contract? I don't believe the Blue Jays insure contracts.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Is there a scenario where insurance pays his contract? Not sure, I don't think the Jays buy insurance for their contracts anymore. It'd be best if he reached an agreement with the team and walked away from the game but he has little incentive to do that.
DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 I'd rather Reyes then Tulo lol, who would have thought that when the trade was made. Tulo will go down as one of the biggest trade busts.
5minutesforframing Verified Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 He'll never play again in my opinion. Of course my opinion on this matter isn't worth s***.
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 This is too bad. I loved watching him play when he was with the Rockies. Sadly, I don't think he's gonna be able to be a productive player anymore. There's just too many injuries that he's endured and had to overcome. It's a shame, but injuries are just a part of being an athlete. This really makes it all the more crucial that JD gets healthy and that Travis can stay on the field.
43211234 Verified Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Not really news. His time can be backdated so he was always going to go on the 60-day DL unless he was close to coming back.

KevinGregg Verified Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 I think with him placed on the 60 at the end of spring training, he has to go the full 60 days. 60 day dl stints can't be back dated to spring training at all. Only 10 day dl stints can
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Where is Warmoth starting? If it's Dunedin, then he may not be that far off either. He's already 22 and is supposed to be advanced. Not a 2018 candidate obviously, but 2019-20. Not sure if Gurriel can handle SS, and Diaz probably isn't one either (he needs to hit to have any value). Urena doesn't look all that appealing to me. Good D but I don't like the bat. Ehh. Bo and Warmoth might be the only ones I'd trust in the system to handle SS long term unless I'm forgetting someone.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted March 30, 2018 Posted March 30, 2018 Donaldson with dead arm is scary. I have experience with dead arm. Mine never came back.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
