2018 Spring Training Thread

Thought Stroman was dealing with an injury? That's why he isn't pitching opening day?

 

It was a minor injury and basically just shut him down for a week, so he wasn't on schedule to start opening day.

 

In spring training they slowly build up to being able to handle 7 innings/100 pitches. Stroman is probably at 5 right now. So he could of started opening day, but would of been on a 70 or so pitch limit, thus better to have him pitch 4th or 5th in the rotation, and have him available for 90 pitches.

Now that I think about it - didn't he have to leave to be with his sick mother or something?

Deck McGuire has done well this Spring Training. Wonder if he becomes a factor this season. Shapiro and Atkins on the Indians were really good at scouting pitchers and quite a few times got pitchers in their mid-to-late 20's to become something. Hopefully it's the same with McGuire.

Yeah, his mom is dying... the Cancer came back, feel bad for the kid. f*** Cancer.

 

Edit: Oh, I see he's back, still doesn't change much. I really hope he has a good year.
