ColdPint Verified Member Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 There's absolutely no truth to this "rumour". This goes against the front office MO, thankfully - the Jays have shown willingness to absorb bad contracts from other teams to stock the farm with talent. Why would they ever consider giving away a building block to save $? Nothing to see here......
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Conclusion - Blair is stupid
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 the real question is, is just stupid, or is he dishonest and looking for clicks or listens or whatever. I can totally see a Bo package that included Morales for Yelich being offered (as others have suggested). But that's not the same thing as 'Jays willing to package Bo if it lets them dump Morales'. I'm inclined to say a bit of both
Laika Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Yeah, seems like a specific thing that came up in the Yelich negotiations and likely nothing more than that.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Yeah, seems like a specific thing that came up in the Yelich negotiations and likely nothing more than that. There were rumors of a scenario that had us eating a contract, wasn't there? Assuming that was Chen, which seems likely, Morales probably would have been headed in the opposite direction.
rainmagic Verified Member Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 Why would Jays be willing to give up one of the top prospects of the organization just to get rid of a guy who just gave the team 28HR / 85RBI season? And only has 2 years remaining and will only be paid reasonable amounts of salary?

Don't let counting stats fool you, Morales sucks and it would be great to be rid of him and his contract - but that doesn't mean it's a good idea to give up Bichette to do it. Blair is clearly out to lunch here, I wouldn't be worried.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Just because we don't want to believe something doesn't mean it's not true. The truth is probably something like, 'we would trade Bo....but it would have to be for the right return (Yelich?)...and as part of that right return, we'd also want Morales included as part of said deal'. Pretty sure it's not, 'We're shopping Bo. If you want him prepare your best offers and be prepared to take back Morales as well.'
AledmysDiaz Verified Member Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 FFS dude re-tweeted the same day that he read it wrong. Literally right after he took it back. At the same time, isn't it possible that the front office isn't as high on Bichette as Baseball America is.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 So what you guys are saying is that Jays could have acquired Yelich in a package that headlined Bo Bichette, but they wanted the Marlins to also take Morales back? That doesn't sound right. The Marlins are cash strapped so, why would the Front Office think there is a probability that the Marlins would agree to take Morales on. It just doesn't sound right. I am not saying Blairs right, but there is more to this. Perhaps the front office doesn't believe in Bichette's swing translating to MLB success Yelich + Chen for Morales + Bichette + a couple of C prospects?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Yelich + Chen for Morales + Bichette + a couple of C prospects? This seems likely.
Nafro Verified Member Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 When I saw the words "Jeff Blair" I immediately assumed the words following were one of the following... ignorance, idiocy, stupidity or something that clearly had no reliable good source.
Nafro Verified Member Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 I confidently state this after only reading the headline.
rainmagic Verified Member Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 3 - It isn't like his contract looks like Jason Heyward's contract or Jacoby Ellsbury's contract. Only 2 years remaining at a reasonable amount of salary.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Bo and Vlad are not going anywhere. Everyone else is a possibility, but those two are Jays for life. Think Bagwell and Biggio.
43211234 Verified Member Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Bo and Vlad are not going anywhere. Everyone else is a possibility, but those two are Jays for life. Think Bagwell and Biggio. You mean the guy drafted by the Red Sox and traded as a prospect?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Bo and Vlad are not going anywhere. Everyone else is a possibility, but those two are Jays for life. Think Bagwell and Biggio. That's just a dumb statement. What players stay with one organisation for their entire careers anymore. They'll be dealt or leave via free agency eventually. Enjoy what they give you while they're here.
rainmagic Verified Member Posted January 28, 2018 Author Posted January 28, 2018 I feel Buster Posey, Mad Bumgarner, Joe Mauer, Trout, Aaron Judge will stay with their current teams for all their MLB careers But I also agree that many players switch teams over the course of their careers for one reason or another.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Is this the Dogg? Probably. 100% probability if they vehemently deny it.
rainmagic Verified Member Posted January 28, 2018 Author Posted January 28, 2018 In that case let me lightly & playfully deny that it is not highly likely that I'm not the one you think I am
rainmagic Verified Member Posted January 28, 2018 Author Posted January 28, 2018 But anyways Jays wouldn't be worried about the remainder of K-Mo's contract. 23M 2 years.
rainmagic Verified Member Posted January 28, 2018 Author Posted January 28, 2018 Jays will simply keep K-Mo's contract for the next 2 years and also make sure Bo Bi will be a part of the core of the next generation of Blue Jays
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 I feel Buster Posey, Mad Bumgarner, Joe Mauer, Trout, Aaron Judge will stay with their current teams for all their MLB careers One of these things is not like the other...
