FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Hint: Donaldson gets traded this year.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 You have no f***ing idea what his trade value is. Shut it down man. If you look back to my posts from a few months ago, i had Reyes and Gyorko as the return. Reasonable, a bit on the high side. Also, I have as much right to participate on this board as anyone else. FYSMC.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 1 year of an injury prone player for $23M..... how much trade value? Not a lot. Injury prone? Yeah, no! Edit: Hah... I see you've continued to make an ass of yourself ITT. *golf claps*
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 2017 was the first time Donaldson played under 155 games in a season since he became a regular lol. I’m worried about his legs long term but calling him injury prone is borderline retarded.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 My thoughts exactly. The third year really was the killer. It's not unreasonable to think we could trade him next off-season. But we are stuck with him for now. He just avoided arb, Jonn... we can't trade him next off-season, he'll be a FA following the WS final.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 Curious to see if the Jays FO thinks they'll be able to get him next off season for cheaper than now. Much like the JB and EE situation perhaps the player wants to test the FA market and only will forego that opportunity if paid top dollar. Next offseason there are going to be lots of other marquee FA and the glut of 3rd baseman on good teams is still going to be there. Atkins mentioned yesterday on PTS that he wonders if this slow off season could be a trend moving forward, said it would take multiple years to confirm said trend. You could be on to something here, JD just said he loves it here and would be comfortable ENDING HIS CAREER as a Jay on SN. <-- That's all paraphrasing of course. Sounds like JD wants term, rightfully so in his case.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Interesting reading this again, I get trashed for referring to JD health issues and his trade value is diminished. Exactly what has transpired.

Exactly what has transpired. You're not a doctor. Donaldson played 4 seasons averaging 157 games. Last year his missed some time due to an injury, but still played 113 games. If you assume every play that fits that mold is injury prone, you're going to be wrong more times than you are right. The fact that you predicted Donaldson would be injured this year has more to do with luck than your incredible medical knowledge.

Also has played hurt a fair bit, that has been disclosed. It wasn't hard to see the signs.

I've always thought Jim was a poor poster but lately he's added this extra layer of insufferablity that is taking him to the top of the board when it comes to my next choice for worst poster.
