I don't know if it's fair to bin Bo as a "low bb guy". His rate is probably pretty close to average.

He is more of a swinger then walker type, he will probably be 4-6% in the majors if I had to guess.

I'd be down with this. We're full of middle infield prospects. If he nets us 1-2 slightly worse prospects, that include a SP, I make that deal.

But I am not a real GM.

Well i was thinking Castro as a ceiling, I don't think he could be much better, low bb, guys just almost never work out. Maybe Adam Jones as a peak?

But just back to my original spot, this team is f***ed, the FO/Rogers won't let us tank and lose 100+ games, our minors now probably doesn't have enough players that end up being 3+ WAR players(besides VGJ and DJ) to make the team any good in 2-3 years.

Acuna had a lower bb% in A+ and AA than Bo but f*** it, let's give him a 3 WAR ceiling based on one metric and call it a day

This is the complete opposite of what I'd consider a responsible approach to handling prospects lol

There's a difference between being a swinger and being a hacker. We'll see but I don't get any sense than Bo is a hacker.

A 4% BB rate is Pillar territory, which would be extremely disappointing and really make no sense based on the information.

Bo smells more like the type whose BB% might go up in the MLB when the focus is more about winning the game that day and less about refining your swing and developing your mechanics etc.

Jesus Christ, Donaldson won't be playing tonight due to f***ing soreness in his calves and legs (per Shi Davidi). No trade. God dammit it.

Nobody is giving anything up for him at this point anyway, so I really don’t care about this.

Just QO the man. He had a 150 wRC+ in 2017 for f***s sake and was worth 5 WAR as a neutral defender.

$20M for one year of his services is a steal.

Unless the team legit wants to tank to the bottom in 2019, which is fine too I guess.

Thank god for that

It’s hard to see him not getting a QO if he’s still here on Saturday. It’s a small investment that they won’t catch much heat for if he sucks, but they’ll look really stupid if they don’t offer him the QO and he has a 5-win season.

why waste the 20mil? This team isn't competing for a few years in the best case scenario... We are better off fielding a couple years worth of replacement level players.

If he's having a 5 win season, we get a decent amount for him at the deadline. If not, he's probably injured and it doesn't change our team outlook. The money next year isn't gonna matter, unless we plan on being a big player in FA.

They can also just QO the douche (seriously though, make it a term of his contract that he has to start eating meat again) and then endeavor to dump him at the first demonstration of semi-consistent health in the early months, to the first team that offers an A- prospect, even eating some of the future money to do it.

They can think of it as purchasing a prospect! Even if all they get is a prospect at the back-end of the top 100, that prospect is probably worth $15-20 million on paper.

Like if LAA said right now - they'll give Toronto Griffin Canning for $10M cash money... Toronto probably says sure.

And the team isn’t tire fire bad. They’ll probably project at around 0.500 come opening day. Having a guy with MVP caliber skills around on a 1-year deal is never a bad thing. Best case scanario, he helps them to a WC game. Likely scenario, he returns some assets at the deadline. Worst case scenario, he provides an expensive WAR in a lost year.

No way in hell we are .500, probably 65-75 wins.

lol, they’re not going to project at less than 70 wins next year

I’ll take the bet right now. I get the over on 69.5 projected wins by midnight on the first day of the regular season, using FG projected standings.

No end of 2018 season wins only. We could have projected 75 or whatever pre-season, sell off veterans, play AAA scrubs then suck in August/Sept

Unless its like this year ….20 mil for 36 gmes (in which the guy couldn't throw a baseball from 3rd to first) Not sure if that's a steal

Uh sure, that bet is different from what I stated at first.

The conversation was clearly about next seasons win projections. Seems like you're pretending to be stupid to back down from a bet.

I expected more from you.

Completely agree. All media types seem to think it's a tough question or that he should be gone. I don't get it. You can't go wrong on a 1 year deal for a guy like him.
