Can anyone explain to me why the player with the second most AB in camp, who lead in:

HR, RS, RBI, SB, was second in BA and had a 1.000 FA ISN'T ON THE ROSTER?

Here's a simple question: are the Jays better with Pearce on the roster?

Are they better with Granderson?

One more time, our 2 clowns just proved how stupid they are.

Relax.

Donaldson will DH the next few games according to Gibby. Saw it on the Score App.

So that pushes Morales to the bench and/or an occasional start at 1st.

Pearce reminds me of a Jim Leyritz who cant catch and does nothing in the post season. In other words he is useless. And Yes, the Blue Jays organization , Atkins, Shapiro, Gibbons have driven the team into the ground, they saw an opportunity and knew people would have got seasons tickets after the good years and capitalized, they are good businessmen though.

They are destroying careers, forget about what Hernandez did in Spring, look what he did when he played with the Jays last year. You might not see that anymore now that he has been hurt by the organization. They also have rookies like Alford etc whos careers are stunted because they are past the appropriate age and or experience when they should make their debuts. Ruining the organization and ruining careers, it doesn't get any darker than this my friends.

Alford isn't playing because he like others are made of glass.

The Jays are an old team and they're simply playing in a division with 2 teams that totally and entirely outclass them. They have a slim hope of competing with teams for a wild card though they would be the bottom rung of those teams.

The problem with being a middling team is you always get middle round draft picks like pick 18-25 or something. Still Atkins and Shapiro are pretty smart - they were dealt a team that AA gutted to win now. AA taking Tulo was basically as horrible as signing Vernon Wells. We're stuck with a $20million dollar dead weight who will never play well again at shortstop and hasn't hit since 2014. I wish there was some kind of insurance policy where we could just give him his outright release. But there isn't so it screws the 2018, 2019 and 2020 seasons.

Our line-up was one of the worst in all of baseball last year and it didn't really get much better. The Yankees were the second best offense and they added Stanton - Something winners do.

Atkins and Shapiro get that but the team has 160 million or so in on this team they can't add tons. So they are basically holding the fort down - everyone they sign is 1 year with a 1 year option or they trade for cheap control (Grichuck).

Estrada/Happ/Garcia/Pearce/JD/Granderson = ~$70million off the books with young talent like Guerrero/Bichette coming next year and you trade any or all of those 6 players at the all star break for some infusion of talent.

You kind of hope all 6 play really well. The thing is the management also have to make money - it's a business and so they can't go full rebuild like the Astros though that would help. Personally if you know the team isn't going to compete for a WC then I'd really like the highest draft picks. The management is being realistic which is why you see all short term hold-me-over cheap contracts. Not trading any of the good prospects and getting respectable but cheap options (Diaz, Solarte, Granderson, Grichuk) - You don't win with any of this. You win with Altuve, Verlander, Springer, Correa, Stanton, Judge, Chapman, Sanchez. You win when you look around the field and see say five players who are in contention for all star contention and rotations where 1-2 are in the running for Cy Young. With the Jays - you have JD and no one else. On the mound you can't point to a single pitcher and say "that's a true ace." The team is basically filled with mediocre players - one legit star who is leaving either at the all-star break or off season but he's going.

This is not panic because of 2 games it's just that the Yankees are a much better team. I'm surprised we've only been outscored 10-3 so far.

I would actually like to re-sign Happ and Estrada. Nothing extravagant, 2-year deals if they would take them.

Morales is dead weight. He is awful. I cannot even imagine having him on this team for all of 2018 and he is signed for next year, too.

Tulo may never play baseball again.

I like everything this FO did this offseason. But they inherited a mess, and to make a run for it the Jays traded a lot of good young players away.

Syndergarrrrrrrrd is looking awesome btw. We traded him for Dickey!

So if JD cant play 3rd base and Travis needs one day off every 3 we need a better option to play 2nd base. On the market as a FA is Brandon Phillips. Why not go sign him to help us fill in. Good pro and he would have made the play in the field Travis didn't yesterday. Failing this we can always promote Vladdy mid April and problem solved. Ngoepe every 3rd day WILL NOT WORK OUT and shouldn't be considered.

I agree. He really needs to play everyday. He might even steal 15-20 bases. We need his 5 tool set.

And I say five tools because I think his arm is pretty strong. I haven't Googled it though.

I'd actually like to see more of Solarte and Diaz. And Espinosa over Phillips.

They are younger and/or have way more control. We need to take this opportunity to keep on developing some of these guys. Gift seems like a guy who hits terribly, but the FO has talked about his bat really coming around. I think his ceiling offensively is higher than Goins, Not saying much, but if he could just hold his own, he'd be a great bench guy with tons of control. You need cheap, young guys like this so you can allocate dollars elsewhere to buy some talent to plug holes. Just MO.

Need to see what Gurriel does at AAA before buying any more MIF.

Oh right! I keep forgetting about him. Yeah, no Phillips. We have a pretty good group of young infielders. Even Urena shows a little potential there.

Jimcanuck, do you think Urena could ever make this team as a bench player, or full-time INF?

He is most likely an AAA depth piece. Still very young so anything is possible.

If we aren't winning anyways, I'd much rather see Hernandez get 4-5 plate appearances a day to see how much development can be achieved.

He will be up soon enough if the team falters.

I think Solarte might be my favourite Jay at present. The pimp on that home run from the bat drop to the leaping hand slap was hilarious.

He seems like he's having a blast out there, it's great.

I loved the dance he did in front of the dugout after Pillar stole home

Not sure if you guys have caught any of Ben Wagner yet, but due to Easter I had to listen to a couple games on the radio the past few days, he's legit. Great voice and gives an excellent description of the plays for the listener. No one can replace Jerry, but in terms of the next best thing they nailed it.

You can hear him a bunch in this clip, he calls the Smoak Slam at around the 1:50 mark

If a mod can embed that bad boy that'd be great I couldnt seem to get it to work

I think hes a dramatic improvement in the booth to be honest. Hes been great. Was never a fan of Jerry and his repetitive stories.
