Would the use of an opener for 2 of the rotation slots be good for MLB business? I don't think it would be. MLB will not make changes to promote the use of an 'opener' for that reason.

You're emphatically wrong.

How? I have a hard time seeing how a parade of relievers is more appealing to casuals than the classic pitching matchup.

When you told Jim he was emphatically wrong for saying the opener isn't good for MLB business.

I've been called a dumbass twice now despite being nothing but respectful. Pretty sure Spanky is on a bender lol.

f*** off, lol.

Going to translate again for you.

Talk of having 30 plus man roster but every game you have to choose a lesser amount that are only eligible that game....... eliminates having to send guys down for 10 days or worrying about guys without options. Side affect, helps with those who like the concept of opener..

Clear??

That should happen in September.

The opener is an awful idea that is taking over baseball because of stat nerds and tranny commies like Ramos what's-its-name. Instead of teams taking the time to actually draft and develop competent starting pitchers which is a riskier investment than position players, they'll just stuff their system with a bunch of fringe losers to pitch 30 innings for them over the course of the year. The commies will be happy with that because that provides an MLB pay check for a few weeks to a bunch of guys who would otherwise not earn it in a pure meritocracy.

The opener/bullpen games will contribute to the devolution to the art of pitching in favour of roster efficiency created by a bunch of quant models on a computer by stat nerds who "love" "baseball" but their 10 inch arms and 120-pound nerd frames were never strong enough to pick up a baseball bat or throw a baseball past 10 feet. I hope you guys enjoyed watching Halladay pitch. He will truly be the last of his kind. I do find drunk Spanky calling out alarmism on this to be funny though. Like a crotchety old guy working at a plant who doesn't see technology making him unemployed in the next few years or something.

How many teams would do that? Low financial clubs only.

Maybe it is the eggnog.. It can be a lot more potent than the cheap Newfy beer he is probably used to😉

Can always trust Spanky for the Friday night entertainment when my chick has the cramps and has to go home early.

Speaking of spanking...

Tough luck, hopefully next week treats you better

Why is he an ******* if he doesn't like the aesthetics of the direction the game is going? The opener, combined with talk of expanded rosters, is going to push the game in the direction of a majority of games being pitched by a bunch of relievers throwing less than 2 innings each. It's 100% a matter of subjective taste: what do you enjoy watching?

I don't like it either. I like the idea of a pitching matchup between two starters.

Well, apparently you're enjoying the game incorrectly, then. Good thing org and Spanky are here to straighten us out.
