TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Idk what's wrong with you people but every single thing they have going there in 3ds max or whatever looks like s***. The stadium looks stupid, the old coliseum isn't an actual colosseum, f*** off, and the design is so hilariously impractical and costly. How is this cool in any way shape or form? It's dumb. What is it, like a mass outdoor homeless shelter? Are they trying to make it look like an ampitheatre? Also, there are a bunch of people there while absolutely nothing is happening. "Hey honey, wanna go sit in the ruins of our old s***** baseball stadium in the middle of nowhere all day?" "Yes dear, that's a great idea!" If only you could just plop people wherever you want them to be in real life. Currently this area is the Oracle Arena and O Co plus about 20,000 parking spots. Oakland has so little parkland. The Oracle is being repurposed as a concert venue...the rest is parkland a tech university and residential/shopping. The repurposing of O Co (which will be a bookable park for cultural festivals, charitable softball games and meant to inspire future baseball generations) will be paid for by the developers. In Toronto it would be a massive waste of space...in Oakland it would probably remain as rubble after destroyed. I don't think it will age well and if the neighbourhood works, it will likely become housing anyway.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Idk what's wrong with you people... I think it's a symptom of the fact that no one really gives that much of a s*** either way and no one here will have to pay for it so it doesn't really effect us. It would be a landmark to go to for those of us who do the stadium tour thing. If a concept like this came to Toronto where the Gaddafi of baseball stadiums was built half way to the Toronto Islands at a cost of $7 billion to taxpayers I think we would unanimously disapprove and we are all baseball fans here. As far as the remnant of the existing stadium, LOL, that's some hippie s*** right there. Glad to see their city council is as brilliant as their counterparts on the other side of the bay. They should make a bludgeoned Raiders logo out of dirty needles on the infield to really set the tone for the place.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 10:45am: Mets prospects Jarred Kelenic and Justin Dunn are “under discussion” along with other young players, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (Twitter link). ___ Wow!
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 The Mets are trying to acquire Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz... but like... why?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Mets Offseason Plan 1) Sell Noah Syndergaard while his value is low for an underwhelming package of second tier prospects, prioritizing quantity over quality. 2) Trade our best hitting prospect for a 40 year old infielder on a mega contract and a big time closer. 3) Finish a respectable .500. 4) Profit???
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 The Mets are trying to acquire Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz... but like... why? Don't know, don't care, but Shatkins needs to get on the horn to New York
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 The Mets are trying to acquire Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz... but like... why? There’s a very good chance that their new GM has absolutely no idea what he’s doing.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Hmmm, hire a goober to be the GM, and he makes s***** moves (or about to). Never saw that coming.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 There’s a very good chance that their new GM has absolutely no idea what he’s doing. All players that overachieved in 2018 and due for regression in 2019 need to shopped hard to the LOLMets. From the Jay's, that's ummm...... no one
Laika Community Moderator Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Lol Mets: In what f***ing world is this the right course for the Mets. DeGrom has two more years of arbitration and Syndergaard has three -- just keep them both for now. Trading Syndergaard after he has dealt with recent injury issues seems dumb. Extending DeGrom after his 9 win season is more dumb. So why not do both?

BTS Community Moderator Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 15M guarantee over two years seems steep for Richards.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 15M guarantee over two years seems steep for Richards. Originally thought it was Clayton Richards lol. Yeah I agree somewhat. You're basically paying 15M for one season of Richards in 2020. If he's healthy and pitches like his previous form, it's definitely worth it, but a lot of risk for a pitcher coming back from TJS and who does have an injury history.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2018 Author Posted November 30, 2018 Jerry Dipoto gets his jollies from trading, clearly. If Edwin Diaz went from being "untouchable" to "on the verge of being traded" in only a few days, I hope Ross Atkins is already attempting to persuade Dipoto into trading Mitch Haniger.

Don't forget 5) try to win with pitching with a s***** defensive catcher behind the plate.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 f*** Osuna for killing his trade value this year
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 BVW is dumn as f***. It's painfully obviously he doesn't realize how good Jeff McNeil is.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 BVW is dumn as f***. You won't be saying that when the Mets win the WS.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2018 Author Posted November 30, 2018 For those scoring at home, assuming things stay as they are and no money exchanges hands in the deal, the Mets will be giving up Jeff McNeil + Jarred Kelenic + Justin Dunn for Edwin Diaz + the right to take on an additional $83.5M in likely dead salary over the next five years, even after getting the modest contracts of Bruce and Swarzak off the books. Maybe stick to agenting, Brodie.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 f*** Osuna for killing his trade value this year Well to be fair, Diaz is a lot better than Osuna. I think we got good value for him even with the baggage.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Shatkins should be on the phone with the Mets right now pitching Russell Martin to the Mets. Anthony Kay + Luis Santana to the Jays for Martin + 12.5 million
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Lmao why is Jeff McNeil anywhere near this deal? He projects as a 3 WAR 2B at 1/10 the price of Cano.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 f*** Osuna for killing his trade value this year Osuna didn't really go for noticeably less than what his market value would have been without the domestic violence accusation. We got back a similarly talented reliever with two years of control and two good lottery tickets. Like Boxy said Diaz is also much better.
King Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 This is insanity. Mind-numblingly stupid.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 For those scoring at home, assuming things stay as they are and no money exchanges hands in the deal, the Mets will be giving up Jeff McNeil + Jarred Kelenic + Justin Dunn for Edwin Diaz + the right to take on an additional $85.5M in likely dead salary over the next five years, even after getting the modest contracts of Bruce and Swarzak off the books. Maybe stick to agenting, Brodie. I don't understand. Cano is a clear downgrade on McNeil while making like a billion dollars per year vs. league min. What in the hell is this dummy doing? Not like I really care, lol Mets. I'm also curious as to what Seattle is doing. I know they said Diaz is off the table, it's just a dumb thing to say when a deal like this comes along but are they rebuilding after being reasonably competitive the past little while or going sideways? Calling a closer untouchable seems to indicate a desire to compete immediately but then they trade their best two pitchers. I don't get it.
