Still Mookie Betts. Trout will out-WAR him by like 2 and out-wOBA him by 75 points, but Mookie will when when the Red Sox take the division title, his batting average is 3 points higher, and he finishes with 6 more RBI.

I agree, but where are you getting your wOBA stats? Fangraphs says Betts it at .480 v. Trout at .451. Betts is slugging .735 - he's having a great season.

Is Major League Baseball’s Domestic Violence Policy Working? By Sheryl Ring

Thoughts, fellas?

My thoughts are I now use fangraphs for approximately 3 things. Looking up stats, the Fringe 5 series and occasional prospect rankings - though the latter is becoming increasingly useless.

I don't care about reading anything else on a baseball statistics site. I'm sure that makes me a bad person to some, but they can go f*** themselves with the non-greased up barrel of a 44 ounce Louisville Slugger.

It's Big Mac Uranus Ramos world and we're just living in it.

Holy crap Mike Trout is already at 5.2 fWAR. I wonder what player will win the MVP with an objectively inferior season this year. Jose Ramirez? I’m happy Betts got hurt.

MLB Tonight was still talking about Betts as an MVP candidate, just last night. Fwiw...

I hate that the media is constantly looking for an excuse to downplay Trout's greatness.

Why is Fangraphs even bothering with this virtue signalling nonsense?

They're a statistics site for crying out loud.

Someone needs to remind them. They seem to have forgotten.

Yep, he's victim of being overlooked far too often in favour of the "next" or "other" guy.

It's insane that he's being taken for granted when he's off to the best start to an MLB career of all-time, IIRC.

I was implying their end of season stats.

Obviously with Betts injury his sample size is smaller, but he has a higher fWAR per game than Trout so far this season. Mookie's fWAR 162 game pace is 13.9 compared to Trout's 12.6. If he were able to somehow keep this pace he should certainly be in the discussion.

Which is unlikely, we'll see. I hate that Trout is so under-rated though. The phenom deserves far more hype.

It would be incredible to have 2 guys clear 12 war in the same year

I thought that year was going to be 2016, had all the narrative for Betts to win. I was pleasantly surprised when Trout handily won MVP.

Oh jeez I just saw that Trout eclipsed the 60 career WAR mark yesterday. God damn.

unlikely for sure, but can't discredit the amount of success he has had thus far. Trout has had a far superior career and no question he is the league's MVP but the 2 of them are incredible talents, and I dont think it's ludicrous to include Mookie in the discussion for this season with the start he has had

I do agree though a large portion of the media is out to lunch when it comes to Trout and trying to compare anyone in the league to him. How he isn't celebrated more is a crime to him, he's on a smooth track to being the greatest of all time.

I'm not sure he's that under-rated. He's come first or second in the MVP race every year, except last year when he was injured.

I don't think the MVP award, should be just automatically given to the fWAR leader. He lost to Cabrerra (triple crown), and Donaldson (only .5 WAR behind league leader in runs and rbis, led Jays to first playoff appearance) and won a couple of other years.

I guess you could argue that he's underrated because some people still think it's "arguable" who's the best player in baseball. In a given year, he might be ahead 10 WAR to 8.5 and narrowly lose the MVP. Over the last 7 years.. well https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&season=2018&month=0&season1=2012&ind=0&team=&rost=&age=&filter=&players=

OK, he's underated. Since 2012 he's beat the next guy 60-35 (second best is still Donaldson) and you still have guys "arguing" that Mookie Betts could be better.

Yes, my point.

They should consider him primarily a hitter going forward. Would be back in the lineup sometime in 2019 in that case.

He should be back this season.

This is laughable... as Chris Rose just said, put your name on it.

“He’s simply overrated. The good ain’t worth the bad . . . Cares about himself more than the team. If I was in charge and had money, my team would not pursue him . . . If he gets more than 10-years, $300 million, I’d be surprised. I would not give him 10 years period and certainly not at that AAV. He’s just not worth it. He’s a selfish, losing player.”

My point was in a given year I don't think he's "under-rated". He comes 1st or 2nd in the MVP race, and who cares if he doesn't win. Cabrerra had a triple crown, Donaldson was almost as good, led the league in RBIs and runs, and led the blue jays to their first title in 20 years.

Over a period of years it's much more dramatics. He's almost double the next guy, over the last 7 years. Not sure what's so wrong about that opinion... unless you think the MVP, should just be turned into an fWAR leader award.

It shouldn’t be an fWAR leaderboard, but Trout was almost 3 fWAR better than Cabrera in 2012. The voters got it very wrong that year.

I'm not saying he should win every year, guys have career years all the time, the fact is he's the best, save for a few outliers every year, "I don't even"... was directed at he isn't under-rated... he is. By a long shot, he should be on a shrine.

If I was a president of that team, and I read that my GM said that on the toilet, I would call for that guy to be fired faster than I could wipe my ass.

So I'm heading on a baseball/golf trip with 3 friends in July. We're going to visit Washington, Baltimore and Philly. The ball games are as follows:

July 21 - ATL @ WAS

July 23 - BOS @ BALT

July 24 - LA @ PHI

We'll be squeezing in 3 rounds of golf along the way too. We're pretty pumped about the match ups as the likes of ATL and PHI got good sooner than we expected.

I'm looking for suggestions or recommendations on:

- Places to sit in each stadium (or where not to sit)

- Places to eat in each City

- Things to do in each City

- Golf recommendations

And any other tips that might help us out.
