P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2018 Author Posted May 13, 2018 Brewers purchased the contract of RHP Freddy Peralta from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Advice: Peralta will make his MLB debut Sunday in Colorado after Chase Anderson landed on the disabled list with an illness. Peralta has a nice 3.63 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 34 2/3 innings at Triple-A this year. He was acquired from the Mariners in the Adam Lind trade in 2015. A debut in Coors Field isn't ideal for anyone, and the 21-year-old is not a fantasy option for that reason. (Rotoworld.com) Sound advice.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 Ohtani 7 strikeouts through 3 innings so far. Love him. <3
5ToolPhenom Verified Member Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 For the love of god learn how to bunt. I know it's not easy but if you became half decent at it you'd think you could get on base at least 50% of the time. I don't understand why bunting against the shift hasn't caught on more than it has. I understand these power guys aren't paid to hit singles, but when you're leading off in the 2nd against Verlander and there's no one on the left side of the field you gotta take the easy bag.

You still need to execute, did you see Devers today against Axford? Same goes for going the other way, easier said then done at this level.

If these guys practiced bunting more they'd no doubt be able to take advantage of the shift more than they're currently doing.

BTS Community Moderator Posted May 13, 2018 Posted May 13, 2018 The Reds just swept a 4-game series at Dodger stadium.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Yes. Very much so. Why? They're missing 4 brosoff's.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2018 Author Posted May 14, 2018 Why? The odds of any team sweeping a series is low to begin with, let alone it being a four-game series on the road and one of the worst teams in baseball getting it done against what should be one of the better teams. It was highly unlikely but it happened.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Why? They're missing 4 brosoff's. Are you high? The Reds are terrible, playing in LA, and LA should be a good team. How in God's name is this not surprising to you?

TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Freddy Peralta is absolutely dealing in his MLB debut in Denver. He just got Arenado swinging for the second time today. That's now Arenado x 2, DJLM x 2, Blackmon, CarGo, and Story. Edit: Make that 8. CarGo rung up again. Edit: 9 now through 4. Story down once more. Edit: This is must-watch TV, you guys. Edit: 10 Ks. Wolters the latest victim. Edit: 11 through 5. Jon Gray gets overpowered. 5 years ago today Wily Peralta made his debut against Colorado and went 5 and 1/3 innings...that is where the comparison ends.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Erstad is still a prick... Although I got to say that the team is under .500 and they were behind still in the game.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Love him. <3 Ohtani ends up with 11 strikeouts. Logan Morrison after the game: “He's only 23 years old and is going to get better. I think he's doing something that nobody has probably ever done, and it might be a long time before you see it again. There's another guy in that clubhouse who is a really good player, but to me, with what [Ohtani] does on the mound and with the bat, he's probably the best player in the world.”

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 LA Suxxxxx... that's why. I'm not surprised. Are you using the same part of your brain that thinks Alex Cobb is a good pitcher?
Ray Verified Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Machado is crushing the baseball right now. Slashing .342/.426/.658, leading the AL in hits, tied for HR, striking out less and walking more. Orioles are dumb. $161M spent on Chris Davis, $37M spent on Mark Trumbo, and $57M on Alex Cobb all sunk costs. All that money could've gone towards a Machado extension. Instead they're gonna let their franchise player just walk away or trade him for way less than what he's worth.

But yeah, they are in a bad situation, especially with Britton injured and harming his trade value.

That ball was destroyed. Catcher didn't like it either it appears. I hate the TV narrative that Erstad's a hussle guy and wants to play the game "the right way". #unwritten rules are stupid

That franchise is a gongshow, and however much they would have given him, other richer teams will offer more.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Extremely hot take from LoMo. Dumn Mike Trout has 3 WAR in a 1/4 of a season and idiots are flapping their gums about Ohtani and Mookie Betts.

TBF Betts has the same WAR as Trout while appearing in 4 less games this season. It's Trout's historic consistently high WAR year on year that sets him apart as the best. Ohtani just defies any comparison, he's simply unique.

If I had to choose between Trout and Mookie, yeah, I choose Trout. Guy is a machine. Best of our generation, maybe best ever when its all said and done. But you can't argue that Mookie isn't having an MVP type year as well so far. Will come down to who keeps it up through the year (or if another guy steps up) As for Shohei, he's just fun god dammit!
