If you've watched the NESN broadcasts lately, they have repeatedly referred to Betts as "some say the best player in baseball." It's a good laugh.

I don't understand these people. It's not like Trout and Betts are even particularly close in talent.

“You could make a case for either, but Trout by a hair,” said one National League executive. “Trout is more physical and should be in a better position to maintain his power value as he ages. Betts would need to continue performing like a freak to keep up with Trout.”

■ “Wow, I’m going with Betts!” said one American League scout. “More versatile. The power numbers go to Trout, but I like Betts all around.”

■ “Haven’t seen Trout play in person since 2011, but with that in mind, I’ll go with Betts,” said an American League scout.

■ “Trout,” said a longtime National League scout. “Analytics may favor Mookie, I love both, but Trout never cools.”

■ “I’d go with Trout,” said a National League evaluator. “Close though. Betts is a year younger and has a better OPS over the last two years.”

■ “Trout’s ahead of him, no doubt,” said one American League executive, “but Mookie has the ability to catch up if he has a couple of really consistent years, which he appears to be on his way to doing.”

Even the guys who picked Trout are morons. These guys better be employed by the Orioles or something, because that is scary.

I especially liked the guy who said the analytics favour Betts. The f***? Or how about the guy who chose Betts because he hasn't seen Trout play in person since 2011, lmfao. A true scout, that guy.

Another guy says Betts had a better OPS the last 2 years. What the f***? That isn't even close to the truth, and that's one of the few references to objective performance. How do you make a statement like that without knowing? It's not like they were both top 5, either.

Christ. I need to rinse my eyes.

Anyone who plays for the Yankees or the BoSox always gets more fluffing than they deserve from the media. Pedroia winning MVP when he wasn't even the best player on his team that year should pretty much show that.

According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, they are indeed.

I replied before you'd added in the quotes. Those would be the kind of quotes I'd make up of I was mocking how stupid people could be. This is a smorgasbord of dumb.

Wow! One of the stupidest things, and most wrong things I've said on this board, is that Dalton Pompey had a chance to be better than Mookie Betts.

At the time Betts and Pompey had similar looking minor league stats (if you squinted a lot, didn't look at strike outs, and put a really, really, heavy emphasis on 2014). And according to my expert scouting based on height, weight, and TV highlights, Pompey appeared to more physical, and I thought his power would develop better. I thought this because I saw him hit a homerun on TV that looked like it was hit really hard... and Mookie looked wimpy. I was rightly called out by people on this board.

That "prediction" is not only wrong, but as wrong as it could possibly be, with Pompey playing about 10 games since then..

That being said Dalton Pompey is closer to Betts in career WAR, then Betts is to Mike Trout.

Dalton Pompey's career on base percentage is about as far from Mookie Bett's career on base percentage, as Bett's is from Trouts.

Not exactly (.291 to .355 to .410), but if Trout got hot, and Bett's slumped, and Pompey came up as 26th man for a double header and went 2/3 with a hbp....

Then it would be true.

Someone post the Walker/Segura BJMB trade reactions. I remember many prominent members embarrassing themselves.

It has gotten so deep into extras, White Sox are now using James Shields in an emergency relief appearance as they've run out of relievers. Still 11-11 in the 14th..

And it's finally over in Oakland--Matt Olson walks it off. I recently mentioned the A's are a better team than they've shown--they're now 9-10! And this strong offense gets to try to stop the Red Sox juggernaut next..

Going to extras in Puerto Rico.. neither the Twins or Cleveland have been able to score.

OMGZ... relievers, everyone suxxxxxxxx, but the Jays!

Oh and that goddamn Nats bullpen blows another game..Madson/Solis/AJ Cole blew up for 9 runs, including Cespedes' grand salami.

And is depth that bad in Washington that former Jays OF Moises Sierra is getting ABs?
