Wish the Jays traded Sanchez last year the moment he hired that douche to be his agent.

I would just use and abuse that arm untill we either are out of it and can get a haul by trading him or let him bolt as a free agentl for the comp picks.

Boras clients are like the practice girls to me. You use them for all they will give you but she ain't the one you plan to marry.

Boras isn't going because they are going to IMG and him (as well as other agents) are not allowed on campus. Other agents are happy with them going to a world class facility...Boras owns a world class facility.

The Rays are going to confirm their intended plans for their new stadium later today. How much funding will their billionaire owner ask for from the state?

uggh, just sign Cobb or Lynn already. Surely they are ready to take a 3 year deal. That's exactly what the Jays need right now. Helps try to compete this year and if it doesn't work out the years remaining make trading them easy. Either of those guys could put up a monster year in 2018 or 2019 and spike their trade value.

Just do it already Atkins!

Morosi says the Jays have continued interest in Andrew Cashner.

Things were a lot more fun when we were mocking the Orioles for being linked to him :(

I do enjoy watching the best at what they do. Although I think he's gone a little Billy Beane in the past few years.

Misleading Tweet.

The deal is only for $126M plus incentives. Thats an AAV of $21M, very good deal for the Cubs.

Opt out after two years though, apparently.

Even better. If he pitches enough to Opt out, Cubs just got a frontline pitcher who will like end up in the 8 WAR range for two years, only $42M.

I have a feeling Darvish could have gotten similar packages from other teams, but choose Chicago.

The opt out is not better for the Cubs

Yeah I don't know why fans think opt outs are good for a team. Sure if a player opts out after 2-3 years than it mitigates the risk of a longer deal, but if Darvish blows his arm out after a year, he's not opting out, and if he pitches so well that the contract is surplus value, then he is opting out, so I don't see where the Cubs benefit.

Still a good deal for Darvish, though.

Catastrophic injuries, such as career ending injuries, are protected with insurance

Insurance premiums that the team would have paid regardless of if there is an opt out clause or not.

Yeah but if Darvish craps out in the next two years as a result of lingering injuries then that's not getting covered by insurance and the Cubs are stuck with him. The opt-out is entirely in the benefit of the player, the team just kind hopes for the best.
