Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 But he's got a new approach now - he's patient - he's laying off bad pitches - he's a lead off hitter! Watch and learn, folks.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Pillar has little trade value, I don't know why anyone would be insistent on shipping him out. He's a minor defensive slippage away from being a DFA candidate. No team is going to give us anything substantial for a 29 year old glove-only OF with a career 85 wRC+. That said, Profar is garbage and I wouldn't even trade Pillar for him. Hmm... Cain in CF, Pillar in LF, trade for Duvall in RF and we'd have elite defence with speed and a bit of pop.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I swear, when Profar goes Jean Segura on the league next season, while Pillar is frustrating the hell out of all of us, I'm bumping this thread. (or if Profar still sucks, I'll claim I was hacked). Hahaha... Rangers want a 5th SP arm for Profar, so it's moot.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Hmm... Cain in CF, Pillar in LF, trade for Duvall in RF and we'd have elite defence with speed and a bit of pop. If they are moving Pillar out of CF they better move him to the bench or a new team because he’s useless in a corner. Cain should be playing RF in that scenario.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Much like Fowler last year, Cain can get similar or better offers elsewhere and keep playing CF, which I’m sure he’d prefer playing. If they sign him (highly unlikely as it is) then they would have to trade Pillar. Playing him in left or right would be awful.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 They'd better as f*** communicate that s*** to Stroman beforehand.

Maybe the FO has no intention of retaining Pillar for much longer for several reasons already stated.
