how many more Jays shitballer starts we going to be exposed to this year? Just think, we replace those with semi competent starts and the Jays are probably leading the 2nd WC spot

It must be getting to Pillar's head that he can't hit worth of s*** with RISP, anyone know if he's entering into all time worst territory for that category in a season with say 100 PA? It's gotta be close

Don't tell me. Repeat of EE?

This seems like a very real possibility if the Jays FO and ownership are intent on keeping 'the window' open for 1 more year in 2018 and they are in contention for a post-season spot by the 2018 trade deadline.

Maybe not even that. If they feel Guerrero is ready, they might just take the pick and be happy. Assuming they really do think we'll compete next year, then I can't see him traded either. It'll be interesting to see. They could also potentially get a bridge guy for a year (like Beltre if he's still good then?)

So then is it a "loser" mentality to think we should trade him for whatever we can get? We should think instead do just settle with a pick? I still feel new to this whole "compete every year" concept and having a competent FO lol

No, if you can get a young stud they might help close to just as much, and you'd free up 20M to use on the FA market on top of that. Still, it really is a tough call to make.

In a perfect world I would extend him, he's such a great player and character to have on the team, just pumps you up!

But this year has given me a good lesson on depreciating assets

I think it also depends what it would take to extend him. Anything over $120M guaranteed would be be too risky for a guy showing signs of physical decline. But if he would take that contract and assuming the Jays don't get a trade offer that knocks their socks off, they may want to keep him. He is clearly a face of the franchise, and definitely the face in the absence of Bautista.

this lopez guy has pretty gawdy numbers in triple A this season... but hes 29, whats his deal?

It's the Blue Jay effect on 30+ year olds. I fully expect him to have a .400 OBP next season

That or he's another Randy Ruiz
