Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Ok, two walk-off slams in one week... there's no way that's ever been done before, right?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 The boys of the summer are finally back!! That series against Oakland and now this.... at least it's become entertaining! Wonder how Shapiro and Atkins are going to approach the deadline
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Refsnyder played a key role in that comeback. Jays gotta be buyers now. Too obvious man. You're not nearly as clever as u think
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 How many players have ever hit two walkoff grand slams in the same week? According to Wilner, Pearce is the first MLB player ever to hit two in a career.

Wonder how Shapiro and Atkins are going to approach the deadline It's one very bad team and another mediocre team. They need to look at dealing Smith, Liriano, Estrada, Happ, and Bau if he will waive.
Cleveland Steamer Verified Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Multiple walkoff grand slams in a season, MLB history: 2017 Steve Pearce #BlueJays 1986 Jim Presley #Mariners 1926 Cy Williams #Phillies
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Hahaha... I decided to head up North to get some cigarettes, was a great listen on the radio! Holy f*** Pearce!!!

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 How many players have ever hit two walkoff grand slams in the same week? Pearce is the first, safe to say he's the player of the week, lol.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 According to Wilner, Pearce is the first MLB player ever to hit two in a career. He made a mistake, and rescinded that.

Wonder how Shapiro and Atkins are going to approach the deadline Jays sit at 49-56. They have the White Sox up next for 3 games so a sweep is definitely possible, though at worst they must take 2 of 3. Astros are next weekend and that will be a tough series. They have 3 games against the Yankees afterwards at home and then Tampa the following week for 4 games, so a chance to gain some ground against teams ahead of them. They really need to go on a run which we haven't see yet. They sweep the A's in 4 games and with a mediocre Angels team in town, they lose the series and almost get swept. I think they approach the deadline the same way they were 2-3 weeks ago. Guys with expiring contracts like Liriano, Estrada, Bautista, and Smith will be shopped. Guys like JA Happ could be moved if they get a really good deal they like. They need to upgrade the roster with 2018 in consideration. They definitely could use an upgrade at either 2B or SS right now. The team can't run out Barney and Goins everyday and expect to make a little bit of a run. As well, it would be nice to get a controllable arm who they could slot in their rotation right now or else you'll have to see Valdez again.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Well that's the last f***ing time I trust Wilner! The correct lesson is, that's the last time I listen to Wilner.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Well that's the last f***ing time I trust Wilner! He was reciting "Super" game winning slams of down 3 runs to a walk off bomb(GS), I never heard of it, from The Baseball Almanac. Pearce still owns first ever in a week! *4 days* And joins Presly and I think Williams of all time. Not bad, lol.
Cleveland Steamer Verified Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 That game was almost 4 hours long.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 The correct lesson is, that's the last time I listen to Wilner. the first and last should always be the same in this case.

Not bad, lol. and to think Pearce was having trouble getting into the lineup... lol what an end to a game. Hazel handled getting showered in Gatorade very well, handed the towel to Pearce and said she had a good dry cleaner. lol didn't even flinch in the interview. very professional actually.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Hahaha... I decided to head up North to get some cigarettes, was a great listen on the radio! Holy f*** Pearce!!! Stayed to the end today. Was worth it. Exciting come back. I was ripping at Gibby for leaving JD and Jose(less so) on the bench to that point in the inning and bam! Probably going to be our highlight of this tough season. Was fun to take in at the RC. The crowd was boisterous and still pretty impressive for the drubbing we had been taking to that point in the game.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 At one point they said today Jays have 3 walk off slams in their history. We now have 4 and Pearce has 2 of those 4 in a 4 day span. That's odds against that happening are incredible.

Glad you and your son got to see that, those memories will never leave Hudson, bro, ever! Same goes for your involvement in coaching etc, AWESOME! My fondest memories buddy, keep up the good work... Also, Bats and JD were hitting BP in the tunnel, and ready to go after Pearce, but hey, all we needed was the man, Steve f***in' Pearce. lulz! Edit: P.S. I meant to tell you that on FB, no time like the present, pal.

Cleveland Steamer Verified Member Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Winnipeg Blue Bombers had one of the greatest comebacks in CFL history this past Thursday. Now the Jays today!
rancher Verified Member Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 I nominate Pierce to be known from now on as the "The Wizard of the Grand slam walk off"

The look on his face was priceless. Friday night Alfredo Griffin tossed him a game ball. So all in all, aside from blowing the game on sat, it was fun time. Love the dome open games. On the flight to windsor last night to my wife's moms house we happened to be sitting with Drew Miller from the Detroit Red Wings. Super nice guy and we talked the whole way. He showed my son the video of him getting the skate to his face that opened him up a couple years ago. Scary. Added bonus to top off the day.
