TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 Ugh. Warmoth is super anti-climactic.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Chris Carpenter didn't work out for us : ( He would've if we held onto him...
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Bleh... hope he does well now, I guess. Those comps are under-whelming.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 He's like the one guy I didn't want. No stand out tools.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 He would've if we held onto him... He's the reason we held onto McGowan forever lol
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Warmoth wasn't one of 'my guys', but I'll happily take him. He might be a late-blooming stud.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 Dodgers are probably so stoked that Kendall got past the Jays.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Don't know if I like the pick....
GoJays1562 Verified Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Warmoth is a vanilla pick hope it works out.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 he has 5 tools though. I hate when they give the Power, Defense, speed guys.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 He's like the one guy I didn't want. No stand out tools. sounds like the reaction to Trea Turner being mocked to us. I like the pick. Solid floor and ability to keep improving.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Isnt Warmoth basically Bichette taken in the 1st round?
metafour Verified Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 The rich get richer Yea, College kid who can't hit s***. Brilliant. Might be the next JB Woodman.
43211234 Verified Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Warmoth is Trea Turner 2.0 Stud! Future HOF!
Governator Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Why do they always try to compare prospects to established major Leaguers? Seems awfully hard to predict lol
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 The talk about Warmoth's trajectory is encouraging for sure. Can't complain about a Brian Dozier comp, though that was obviously the most positive one they came across.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Well, the one big plus for me is that Warmoth sounds like he could be a pokemon, which is funny.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 sounds like the reaction to Trea Turner being mocked to us. I like the pick. Solid floor and ability to keep improving. He doesn't have the speed or athleticism of Trea Turner. But that comparison works.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Why do they always try to compare prospects to established major Leaguers? Seems awfully hard to predict lolIt's such a futile exercise, really. But I suppose it appeals to the casual fans.

metafour Verified Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I'd rather Allen over Warmoth, but that's me. Especially for slot flexibility. If Warmoth was a HS kid you'd love him. Why Allen over Warmoth? Midget with who knows what type of offensive upside, and I actually like Allen. You're falling into the HS= Good, College = Bad trap.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Yea, College kid who can't hit s***. Brilliant. Might be the next JB Woodman. This comparison makes no sense. The only thing they have in common is strikeouts
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I love the Warmoth pick. Look for this kid to follow in the footsteps of other late-first-round shortstops, like Deven Merrero and Alex Blandino
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I heard Hardy and Cozart comps? Manuel said he talked to a scout who compared the bat to Dozier, and used that to justify Warmoth still being a good pick even if he has to move to 2B Edit - Or maybe he was comparing his potential trajectory to Dozier, who had a huger power spike in pro ball
