gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 If Travis made that same mistake you'd be calling for his move out of the position for the next 4-6 weeks. Maybe, but there's been a lot of ammo to back that up in creating that sort of comment. Not saying it's right though..
Governator Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 How many wins have come off the back of Goins' defence? I'll bet you more than his defence has cost us games. Of course, he's only here because of his glove.
nextyear Verified Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 How many wins have come off the back of Goins' defence? I'll bet you more than his defence has cost us games. Goins filled in admirably for Tulowitzki and the Blue Jays gained ground during that time.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Including a walk vs a very tough LHP to set up the game winning HR from Travis. He has been a huge part in keeping the team in contention with all the injuries. Goins turns that DP 99% of the time but it came at a bad time so the knee jerkers come out in full force. Haters will be hating.. lulz

Well that's an MLB prerequisite, when your bat is as deadly as a fart in the wind. It was a brutal error that nearly lost us a game. Give your head a shake, Gruber. It was really bad.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 We're one game under 500 dickwads, and gaining ground fast!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 For someone who always boasts about watching baseball for years, you sure do sound like a typical casual moron. Wat? Any player in that situation would get rimmed, lol... even that kid at 2nd whom hit the game winning 2 run jack.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Gruber will protect Goins to his grave
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Is that word above your comprehensive level? Sorry if it left you dumbfounded Sorry nextyear, I can't help but cower in the face of your virtuoso intellect. Like when you said Donaldson should hit 6th? Brilliant!
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 How many wins have come off the back of Goins' defence? I'll bet you more than his defence has cost us games. Well, we can answer this. He's at -0.1 fWAR and -0.03 WPA. So to the best of our knowledge, he's been worth zero wins.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Gruber will protect Goins to his grave C'mon though seriously.. When was the last time Goins made a critical error like that?

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 C'mon though seriously.. When was the last time Goins made a critical error like that? I agree he doesn't make many mistakes but he's overrated defensively

Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I am sorry to all the Goins fans out there but 3 days ago i told a person he was nothing more then a modern day Johnny Mac and they lost it. In 3 years his total WAR is .4 i believe and people still think that he is an absolute gift. He a good day at the plate but when you are more or less a glove only player and you boot a ball that should be routine your going to get criticized for it.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 but but but but dem RBI's! He has been really good this year with RISP.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Defensive metrics are weak. Just ask Spanky. I'm not a true believer in defensive metrics, you're right. I don't see what that matters, here? They're the best we can quantify what a player is in that context, though. Yer dumn.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 I don't see how any team would be willing to give Goins a starting job.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Are they trying to throw this f***ing game? Gibbons having a bout of Pete Rose syndrome and betting on the Reds? Why would you put your worst possible line-up out there on the day you have your worst pitcher on the mound? If you're going to give Donaldson, Tulowitzki and Pillar a rest at least do it when Stroman is on the mound and you have a chance to win the game with 4 runs or less. Pillar just had a potty-mouthed rest and Donaldson and Tulo played half the game on Monday. How much rest do these guys need. I am very glad that they took this game and I have been shown to be wrong. Now the team has rested players for the Yankees.
