Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 What are the chances of going with a Pompey-Pillar-Alford outfield in 2018 (assuming Pompey isn't dead)? Or will they trade the gay hating bastard and go with Alford in CF? Pompey's playing now, I'm not sure how many games it is before he has to come off the DL, and put back on the 40, it used to be 15 games or days. Also there's talk of Alford making the '18 roster. Smith Jr... has a chance too.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 lol Pompey I'll say it again. Pompey will never play another game for the Toronto blue Jays.
JuniorFelix Verified Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Honestly, this is probably the most exciting prospect to come up for me since, I don't know, Stroman? Can't wait to see this guy!

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 This is exciting. When was the last time we got to see a legit prospect called up midseason? In recent years only the pitchers (Stro, Osuna, etc)
Gary Verified Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Where is Alford batting in tonight's lineup?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Anyway I'm excited to see him Looks like a well-rounded player Got his autograph in Dunedin
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Where is Alford batting in tonight's lineup? 8th I bet
Gary Verified Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 8th I bet That'd be cool. I hope he at least in the lineup and not sitting on the bench.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Alford is playing LF tonight. Would have liked to see him in CF with Smith Jr getting the start over Zeke.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Gibby is so weird, a guy with his defensive tools is being wasted in LF so a guy like Zeke can play CF. Hopefully Alford impresses Gibby
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 8th I bet 1. Ezequiel Carrera (L) CF 2. Jose Bautista ® RF 3. Kendrys Morales (S) DH 4. Justin Smoak (S) 1B 5. Devon Travis ® 2B 6. Ryan Goins (L) SS 7. Darwin Barney ® 3B 8. Anthony Alford ® LF 9. Luke Maile ® C

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Why? I think the organization has completely written him off. I could be completely wrong, but that's the feeling I get.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 I'll say it again. Pompey will never play another game for the Toronto blue Jays. Possible but he's out of options next year and plays for a team that has an asset hoarding front office. They kept f***ing Goins on the roster rather than risk losing him. Pompey has a shot. Whether he ends up being any good is a different story.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Hard to see a healthy Pompey as anything less than a 4th OF. Did you scout him?
Governator Community Moderator Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 I would've liked to have had Pompey up here all season over Carrera. I think given the opportunity to play everyday he could be a valuable contributor, not to mention we've lacked any real on base threat since Rajai.
Ray Verified Member Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Giving up on a 24 year old switch hitting outfielder who plays good defense and has premium speed would be absolutely criminal. At the very worst, Pompey is a 4th OF, which is still valuable. Also, he's gonna be cheap for the foreseeable future. You give guys like that every chance to succeed.

He plays decent outfield it is not a strongest point.

I've seen enough videos of his misplays in centre to not label him a good defender, though it's clear he has the range to cover a lot of ground.
