Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Is there any positive to this game? At least people came away with a cool umbrella? Another nail in the coffin for the season and forcing the FO's hand in blowing it up.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Wasn't it said that Rogers was behind Bautista's re-signing? If so, the lost pick might sting even more for the front office. Damn I wish we found a way to trade for Puig back when he was attainable. Too late now. I heard that as well from a few places but it was never really confirmed.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 welp Goins with a 2 hit game, thats a highlight
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 I heard that as well from a few places but it was never really confirmed. Basically means we're f***ed either way. Shatkins made the call = dumb call by the guys supposed to be smarter than the previous regime. Rogers made the call = stupid interfering owners.
BlueJays Verified Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 2-run HR by Pillar. Breakout year!
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Is there any positive to this game? Jays averaging 1.33 runs per inning after I deleted the Dogg's account. The bats are awake
wk680 Verified Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 welp Goins with a 2 hit game, thats a highlight I noticed Goins and Pillar both fouled off several pitches right in the heart of the strike zone before they got one in play. It looked like batting practice but with a little more velocity. So those were the cheapest kind of runs, but it's expected when you are going into the inning down 11-2. At least gives the people still there at that point (must have been very few) something nice to end a miserable afternoon on a bit of a positive note. Basically means we're f***ed either way. Shatkins made the call = dumb call by the guys supposed to be smarter than the previous regime. Rogers made the call = stupid interfering owners. Not so f***ed since his contract is only guaranteed for 1 season at $18.5 M. Pretty sure that 'reliable sources' reported that Edward Rogers helped talk the Jays FO into retaining Bautista and even assured them additional payroll flexibility if he was retained. It certainly made sense on paper, since most experts expected him to at least be similar to last year's wRC+ of 122 with 2-2.5 WAR predictions. Maybe the Jays will get lucky and he gets it going then can be traded to a contending team for a good prospect in July (he is likely to agree to a trade if it gives him another chance to get a WS ring, and he is very unlikely to be back with the jays in 2018 anyway)
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Happ elbow soreness f***. He's someone we could have actually traded for a nice return f***. ripppppppp Worst season ever. Worst Easter ever.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Never heard that. Shatkins have full authority to do what they want. Bautista resigning was their idea. I would've taken the pick all day long. It was floated out there somewhere. Don't know if it was credible or not. That pick + two or three free agents would have been a hell of a lot better than Bautista alone in hindsight.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 At least Loup has been nails! Good maybe we can trade him as well

Worst Easter ever. That reminds me of Stephen Strasburg injury. Started out small with some soreness and after a few consultations it ends up being TJ surgery.

As already pointed out, it's not like Fowler is doing anything (so far). ETA: Reddick also off to slow start with .609 OPS and .030 ISO in 12 games
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Time to blow it up and tank. Hopefully Shapiro can work his magic again and build a team like the one he built in Cleveland.
wamco Verified Member Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 Never heard that I would've taken the pick all day long. You never heard Rogers was involved with bringing Jose back???? Really?
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 A positive today, I liked Tulo's PA's after the game was already out of reach. Maybe he can be the next lead off hitter out of these slim pickings. As far as people harping on Gibbons on putting Pillar and Carrera #1 and #2...they pulled their weight today. They have been meeting their low expectations at the plate so far this year. As opposed to half of the hitters on this team who only wish they could be as "good" as these two scrubs right now. Putting Pillar and Carrera #1 and #2 in game 12 doesn't mean Gibbons is going to do it in game 162...or game 13 for that matter. When the offense is struggling this badly it couldn't hurt to at least try something of the many bad possible choices out there. Well like I said hopefully Tulowitzki's day is something to build on and he can take over at the top of the order. I dunno...I haven't seen every inning of every game so far this year but every time I see Tulo he seems to have good PA. The stats don't really reflect it though.
guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 I mean if we have a trade deadline like the Yankees did last year it could be fun to see what kind of haul we could get, things are looking rather ominous at the moment...
