BarryDavis Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 What specifically did he do? Was it rudeness or you just found him intimidating? Both.
Gary Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Barry do the Jays make the playoffs this season?
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Author Posted April 14, 2017 If scouting was simply about WatchKit players, I'd love that but there's too many number these days. As a kid I loved watching Pete Rose. More recently, I'd have to say David Ortiz You're right there is way more to scouting than having an eye for players. Good answer!
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 If you were a cat, what type of cat would you be?
BarryDavis Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 After the Jays beat the Orioles in last year's Wild Card game, sports writer and celebrity Orioles fan Roy Firestone went on a rambling incoherent tirade on an Orioles message board. What do you do after a big loss to let off a little steam and can we expect to see you do something similar in the future? When I covered the team I had to stay objective so I never had to let off steam. If they lose again tonight I will have learn how to blow off steam
BarryDavis Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 ******** call. Just discussing that now. I still don't understand replay
BarryDavis Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 If you were a cat, what type of cat would you be? Puma
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Do you think the Blue Jays should have brought Jose Bautista back or took the draft pick instead?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Just discussing that now. I still don't understand replay they were making it up. said that Donaldson never got to the front of the back but you can see his toes hit the back.
Pinkfloid Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Barry, I really enjoy seeing your reaction for that split second after Bautista hit his infamous bat flip homerun in 2015. What do you remember most about that moment in time?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 When I covered the team I had to stay objective so I never had to let off steam. If they lose again tonight I will have learn how to blow off steam I like to go out and get tanked.
BexNSR Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 With how many baseball games you've watched over the years, have you developed a good eye for talent? Is a scouting role with a team something you would consider? And who was your favourite non jays player that you just loved to watch play? You ask great questions! Are you following the podcast on Twitter? We'd love you to sumbit some questions using #AskBarryDavis - each week he will answer some.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Barry, who was your favorite person to hang out with/chat with? Either a player on the team, or other reporters. Who was genuinely cool to hang out with?
BarryDavis Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Hey Barry. What advice would you give for an aspiring journalist or broadcaster in this day and age? It doesn't seem to be as straightforward as simply going to school anymore, and developing a realistic following online through blogs, podcasts or twitter seems to be a real crapshoot. It's not easy and it's not always about talent. Like any business there's a lot of politics involved. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of options when it comes to sports broadcasting

Lol You and your fellow NSR staff members have done a great job promoting the podcast. Keep it up
BarryDavis Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Barry, who was your favorite person to hang out with/chat with? Either a player on the team, or other reporters. Who was genuinely cool to hang out with? First of all, great throw by Tulo to Martin. Players and media don't hang out. I loved hanging with Buck and Pat. They've been around the game so long and have a million great stories.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Barry we've gone 17 innings without a run. At what point do we fire the hitting coach?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Barry, With you as the front man of a band, do you think your time as a sports reporter helped you in any way for that? And no matter what anyone says, it takes a lot of guts to stand in front of any camera for the entire country to see, like it takes guts to get up in front of any crowd and sing? What's the biggest difference between the two for you?

BarryDavis Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Bex are you Barry's minion or something? How did you get that job? She filled out an application online, and since she was the only one, she got the job by default. In all seriousness , Bex has been amazing in helping to get the word out, along with Matt and Jen. They are my NSR team and don't know what I'd do without them
BarryDavis Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Not Zaunie? He was never on the road to hang out with. When the Jays were at home, I wouldn't go out after games.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Who was the biggest troublemaker, Lawrie?
BarryDavis Verified Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Who was the biggest troublemaker, Lawrie? Define troublemaker?
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Hi Barry, I didn't have much of an opinion of you before but now that I have to watch Arash Madani i can say I really miss you!
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Define troublemaker? Miss curfew, be a goof in clubhouse, be disrespectful, slack off in warmups
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Wow, you won't even criticize Smoak. You're such a goddamn professional.
