Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 I'll bet anyone $50 Pillar's batting average is less than .320. For real.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 I'll take over .350 for $20...if someone gives me 100 to 1.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 Hey wait. I thought you accused me of trolling for playing along with this... Anyway peace. No need to slam each other. Kevin Pillar has improved. That is becoming obvious. If some of us want to dream, let us. What would Pillar be like if he really improved as much as, say Bautista did in 2010, but his skill set was the same. Low strikeout line drive hitter, amazing defense, amazing baserunning. Hits in the luckiest of luck, has the healthiest of health. Liners all over the place. 30 fangraphs defense. Gibby see's it right away so hits him lead off all year, get almost 800 plate appearances. My bad. I was pretty sure this entire thread aside from Gruber's Pillar-boner posts were all trolling and mockery.

closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 Apparently Pillar went 0-7 today across two minor league games. Every a bat contained nothing but bunt attempts... fun times ahead.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) It's crazy to think that someone of Pillar's skill set can't bunt. You'd think it a must and something within his repertoire, considering he lacks power and patience. Edited March 22, 2017 by o2cui2i
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Did he make contact at any time? Struck out twice on 2 strike fouls, a pop-out, and got the final 4 down.

Just he can't leverage that power with his swing/approach.

wamco Verified Member Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Did he attempt to bunt at any balls in the dirt and 2 feet off the plate?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2017 Author Posted March 24, 2017 Balanced and poised. Has he seen any big league pitching yet this spring?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Balanced and poised. Has he seen any big league pitching yet this spring? he just walked with Pomeranz on the mound

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Apparently Pillar went 0-7 today across two minor league games. Every a bat contained nothing but bunt attempts... fun times ahead. Ha. If that's true wouldn't the 3rd and 1st basemen just be playing in if they know it's coming?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Ha. If that's true wouldn't the 3rd and 1st basemen just be playing in if they know it's coming? Yeah that's probably why he never reached safely
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Yeah that's probably why he never reached safely I think Donaldson did the same thing for 1 or 2 games this spring. It's more to get the batters in the box to face live pitching. The team would have told him not to swing. So since they're in there they may as well work on their bunting skills.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Watch and learn folks. I agree with this fine gentleman
King Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 His new short and quick approach will do wonders. His HR total will be most likely be in the single digits, but his new approach will no doubt increase his numbers everywhere else. He sure looks a lot more comfortable at the plate in the few AB's he's had so far and it appears Jacoby may have found what he needed. He's hit well at every level of pro ball except at the MLB level. He has a natural born ability in getting the barrel to the ball but big league stuff (especially secondaries) are recognized too late. His new shorter approach will allow him to let the ball travel a bit longer before committing. Just the way he's taking pitches now would indicate he's seeing the ball a lot better. The talent is there, but his approach needed something to adjust to the superior MLB pitching. He seems like he may have found something, so look for his offensive numbers to be much better. .285 / .330 / .440 Rofl
StubbinHub Verified Member Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 He's a terrible overall player with a good glove. He isn't getting better and once his legs go a little, he's a complete POS.
StubbinHub Verified Member Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 The days of liking a guy for having a good glove (like Johnny Mac or Pillar) should never return. A bum is a bum.
